Firefighters and a library supervisor saved a man's life after he went into cardiac arrest during a community town hall Oct. 14 at the Williams Grange.

We are incredibly grateful to have trained firefighters and dedicated leadership right here in Williams, ready to step into action when our community needs them most.

Wednesday evening was a powerful reminder of just how important a rapid emergency response can be. From the immediate lifesaving actions of our Fire District leadership team to the firefighters who quickly responded from our staffed station, we are so thankful for the people who show up for our community when every second counts.

A special thank you to Williams Librarian Amber Guient for her quick thinking in retrieving the AED, and to all of the community members who stepped forward to help. This was truly a community effort!

As the Williams Fire District Support Team, we couldn't be prouder of our firefighters and the incredible community that stands behind them. We are especially grateful that our community member received lifesaving care when it was needed most. Our thoughts remain with this individual and their family as we hope for a full recovery.

As we approach election day, WFD Support Team would like to thank everyone who has supported this measure in any way!

From our list of Endorsers and our Board of Directors.....to our dedicated Team members who painted signs and have attended every Williams Farmers Market since August (2 more to go, so stop by if you have questions)..... to the Friends of Applegate Fire District No. 9 who shared their experience to help us organize our efforts - a true testament of partnership between our Districts.....to those who share our posts on social media and actively engage in civil conversations about this topic..... to the CAC/CC and The Grange for hosting public meetings and everyone who attended.....and the countless other ways that our Community has come together in the last few months to show that having a trained First Responder Staff at our Fire Station is important enough to put their time, action and money into this effort.

In these final weeks before the vote, we will continue to encourage every registered voter to educate yourself about this topic and make the decision to support the District as it continues to meet the emergency needs of our Williams Valley Community.

Looking Out for Our Neighbors

As a small, family-owned and operated tree service business, Specialized Arbor Services knows how much it means to have people you can count on. Our work brings us into people's yards and lives, and we care about the families who call this community home.

That's why we support Measure 17-128. We have attached a copy to this newsletter for your convenient review.

When a fire or medical emergency happens, the person needing help could be your neighbor, a customer, or someone in your own family. Having trained emergency responders ready around the clock is something we want for everyone in Williams.

Measure 17-128 would support our local fire district's staffing, volunteer training, equipment, and emergency medical services. With the current levy and one-time grant funding ending, this measure would help keep essential care available when our neighbors need it most.

We know every dollar matters to families and small businesses. For a property assessed at $200,000, the proposed levy would mean an additional $140 a year, or about $11.67 a month, over the expiring levy. We believe keeping emergency responders ready is worth that investment.

The Hinkle Gulch Fire has been fully wet-lined. Please continue to use caution and avoid the area if possible as crews remain on scene to continue with mop-up.

Crews are on scene of a 1 acre brush fire in the 1000 block of Thompson Creek Road. Closest intersection: Hinkle Gulch Road and Thompson Creek Road

Please avoid the area and use caution for responding emergency vehicles.
