Nehalem Bay Pride Comes to Wheeler June 27–28! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
Heart of Cartm and City of Wheeler host a two-day celebration on the Oregon coast 🌊🌲
All events are free, drop-in, and open
to everyone!

Saturday, June 27 — Make It. Wear It. HoC Studio (395 Nehalem Blvd.) opens 1–5 pm for a drop-in creative session featuring screen printing, button making, costume crafting, and community visioning. Attendees are
invited to make something they'll actually wear— to the party, to the strut, or just out in the wild.

Sunday, June 28 — Strut & Shore, 2–5 pm At 2:00 pm, a pre-party glam and crafting session at HoC Studio kicks off the afternoon. At 3:00 pm, the community struts to the Wheeler waterfront for a party featuring tacos,
music, and lawn games.

The event is hosted by Heart of Cartm, a creative reuse nonprofit, in partnership with the City of
Wheeler.

The studio was full of fabric and good intentions this weekend, which is how you end up ransacking every bin in the building looking for one specific zipper.

We found it. Because of course we did.

Volunteers from Heart of Cartm and the NBCS Clothing Bank spent the afternoon putting clothes back together for the racks—one stitch, one salvaged part, one miraculously correct zipper at a time.

Kinda how it goes around here 🤷‍♀️💜

🌱Tillamook Estuaries Partnership is looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join the TEP team in Garibaldi, OR.

💧The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) position is an integral part of Tillamook Estuaries Partnership’s high-performing team, and its primary objective is to enhance the organization’s visibility and impact within the community. The CEC accomplishes this objective by planning and leading events that connect people to the work we do and the natural resources we strive to protect; promoting STEAM education and environmental stewardship; cultivating a vibrant and engaged volunteer.

🐟TEP is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of Tillamook County’s estuaries and watersheds through active stewardship, scientific inquiry, community engagement, and education. We follow a Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP) to implement our 10-year action agenda. TEP’s projects include tidal wetlands restoration, fish passage barrier removals through the Salmon SuperHwy partnership, BackYard Planting Program, a native plant nursery, water quality monitoring and improvement, K-12 environmental education, Explore Nature events, and more.

In ecology, refugia are places that provide shelter for life during times of stress and disruption—safe havens where nature can recover and renew even as surrounding conditions change.

At this moment of growing environmental and social uncertainty—and at a time when many community-based organizations are challenged to do more with fewer resources—the concept of refugia feels especially important. It reflects the work we are doing together at the Lower Nehalem Community Trust; caring for land and water in ways that help both ecosystems and communities here in the Nehalem Bay region remain strong, resilient, and connected.
