Congratulations to the members of Norwood Firefighters Local 1631 and the residents of Norwood on the successful vote to increase fire department staffing. Their community recognized that investing in public safety means investing in faster responses, safer operations, and a stronger fire department for years to come.

We congratulate our brothers and sisters in Norwood and remain committed to advocating for the staffing and facilities our members need—resources that many neighboring communities have already recognized as essential investments in public safety.

Yesterday, Norwood voters made an important decision about the future of public safety in our community.

To everyone who supported this effort, thank you for the trust you have placed in the recommendations of our public safety leaders and in those who serve this town every day. That trust is something we will never take for granted.

We also recognize that many residents had genuine concerns and questions throughout this process. While people may have reached different conclusions, we all share the same goal: a Norwood that is safe, supported, and prepared to meet the needs of everyone who calls this community home

As firefighters, our commitment remains unchanged. We will continue to serve this community with professionalism, compassion, and dedication today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Thank you, Norwood. It is an honor to serve you.

Today, we recognize Firefighter Sunday, a day dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who served their community through the fire service.

Firefighter Sunday has its roots in remembering firefighters who have made the ultimate sacrifice and recognizing the commitment, courage, and dedication of those who continue to answer the call every day. It is an opportunity for our community and extended family to come together in gratitude and support for firefighters and the families of firefighters.

Behind every firefighter is a family who also sacrifices time, holidays, and peace of mind in support of their loved one’s service.

Today, we ask our community to join us in thanking all firefighters—past and present—for their unwavering commitment to serving others.

From all of us at the Westwood Firefighters Local 1994, thank you to every firefighter and fire family for your service, sacrifice, and dedication. Thank you to all of those who attended. This service is held every June.

Yesterday our C2 C3 and E5 responded to Millis for a structure fire. Off duty firefighters covered the town and handled multiple calls.

Great job by all crews on scene handling a large volume of fire in strong winds.
