​Synopsis:
When a young housewife’s underpants accidentally fall to her ankles during a royal parade, her quiet life—and her marriage—explode into chaos. Suddenly, every eccentric man in town is desperate to rent a room in her home, each with his own outrageous agenda. As her uptight husband scrambles to protect their reputation, she begins to discover her own desires, ambitions, and power. Steve Martin’s The Underpants transforms a classic farce into a sharp, modern comedy about love, lust, and the absurd lengths people go to keep up appearances. Bold, witty, and delightfully inappropriate, it’s a guaranteed crowd‑pleaser.

Character Breakdown:​
Theo Maske (M, 40-50) A burly, muscular fireplug of a man (think lifetime military type)

Louise Maske (F, 25-30) Very pretty. Theo's wife. A constant dreamer

Gertrude Deuter (F, 40-50) A busy busybody. A troublemaker in the making

Frank Versati (M, 30-40) An elegant gentleman. A charmer

Benjamin Cohen (M, 30-40) A sickly, thin man. Comical type

Klinglehoff (M, 65-75) An elderly man

King (M, 50-60) A royalty figure (appears at the end of the show)

Take Care of the Puppies Productions is bringing Jen Silverman’s dark comedy, “The Roommate,” to Westminster Community Playhouse (WCP) for a three day run benefiting I.C.A.R.E., a local pet shelter. The production stars Sarah Hoeven and Randi Tahara and is directed by Austin James.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. The Sunday matinee will also feature a dog adoption event before the performance, giving audiences an opportunity to support I.C.A.R.E. while meeting dogs in need of homes.

The partnership grew from Hoeven’s connection to animal adoption events hosted by AfterGLOW Wrestling through its Wrestling is 4 the Dogs shows. Hoeven reached out about the production and was connected with Original GLOW Girl Roxy Astor, helping bring Take Care of the Puppies Productions and I.C.A.R.E. together for the fundraising event.

The production centers on Sharon, a recently divorced woman living alone in Iowa who is looking for a roommate. Robyn arrives from New York hoping to escape her former life and begin again. As the two women develop an unexpected friendship, Robyn reveals a startling past that encourages Sharon to confront desires she has long kept hidden.

What begins as a simple roommate arrangement becomes a story about friendship, reinvention and the courage to change. The play balances dark humor with emotional moments as both women confront the disappointments that have shaped their lives.

For Westminster Community Playhouse Vice President Greg Stokes, the production also represents an opportunity for the theater to support a meaningful community cause. Holly Farrell represents I.C.A.R.E. for the fundraising partnership, which brings together live theater and animal adoption in support of the shelter.

With proceeds benefiting I.C.A.R.E. and a dog adoption event planned before Sunday’s performance, “The Roommate,” offers audiences more than a night at the theater. It is a chance to experience live theater while helping animals find new homes.

“The Roommate,” runs Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Westminster Community Playhouse. The Sunday dog adoption event takes place before the matinee.

It is now or never to see "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" at WCP!

Our final cast spotlight, also portraying a Protean, and also making his WCP debut, is Noah Raleigh!!

Noah is so excited to have his Westminster debut in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Noah is a Junior in high school and he most recently appeared in A Chorus Line as Zach at The Long Beach Playhouse apart of Jewel box, and also The Outsiders as Bob, at Act Out. Along with Zach his favorite roles include Mendel in Fiddler on the Roof, at the Long Beach Playhouse, and Roger in Grease. Outside of school Noah loves hanging out with his friends and singing in choir. He loves performing and hopes all his fellow actors break a leg.

The final weekend of "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" is now upon us! Let's kick things off with two more cast spotlights!

Our first of two cast spotlights, portraying a Protean, is Ja'lil Nelson, new to WCP!

Ja’lil is making his WCP debut, and couldn’t be more proud to be surrounded by such talented people. Hailing from Fresno, Ja’lil is a musician and writer who fell in love with all things theater. Recent credits include, Kristoff (Frozen), Tin Man (The Wiz), Roger (RENT), and Benny (In the Heights). They’d like to thank their moms, fiancé and friends for their support!
