Darlings, let's talk about the Lunch & Learn we hosted with Heywood Hospital, shall we?

I was a fan favorite. Obviously. I don't say that to brag — well, maybe a little — but truly, was anyone surprised? Certainly not me.

This is a picture of me after the demonstrations, when two friends came over to meet me. Look at that adoration. That's not luck, darlings, that's just what happens when I show up.

Some horses do the work quietly. I do the work AND the press tour.

Word around the barn is fall sessions start next week. Staff's been busy getting things ready. Us horses too, if I'm honest — you gotta get your head right for a new season same as anybody.

Looking forward to it, actually. Some old friends coming back around, which is always good. Don't gotta relearn each other, just pick up right where we left off. And some new faces too. Take a little longer to trust, but that's fine. I got the patience for it.

Old friends, new friends. Good season coming.

Settle in now, settle in. Old Coco's got one for you today.

You can help calm a nervous horse just by talking to 'em. Steady voice, easy words, don't even matter much what you say — it's the calm that carries. A horse hears that steadiness and starts to believe things might just be alright.

Learned that myself plenty of times over the years. Some new sound, some new sight gets me a little unsettled, and it's a quiet voice nearby that brings me back down. Don't need fancy words. Just needs to be steady.

Funny how much a little talking can do.

Well. Quite the week it has been, darlings.

We hosted two events — a Lunch & Learn with Heywood Hospital, and our Lead from the Heart showcase. Two occasions, both requiring poise, both requiring grace, and I daresay I delivered on each.

Genuinely, though — we are so thankful. Thankful for a community that shows up, that supports this farm, that takes the time to come see the work we do here. It does not go unnoticed. It matters, more than I let on.

And now, after Mint and Emmy had their little moment with the camera, here is mine.

Darlings, since Mint got his little moment yesterday showing off HIS picture, I simply could not let that stand without sharing mine.

Look. At. This. Face. This is what happens when a camera meets a natural talent — pure magic. Mint got lucky with a candid shot. I, however, was BORN camera-ready. There's a difference, and I think we all see it clearly here.

Honestly, they should be hiring professional photographers for me on a weekly basis. This is a public service, darlings. The people deserve consistent access to this level of beauty.

This week was a big one. We hosted a Lunch & Learn with Heywood Hospital.

Lot of new faces. Lot of talking — staff going on about how good this program is, all that. I mostly just stood around and let 'em say it. Didn't need to add much, the work speaks for itself.

Gather 'round now, gather 'round. Old Coco's got a good one today.

Bet you didn't know — horses shed their coats twice a year. Come spring, out goes the thick winter fuzz. Come fall, out goes the light summer coat, and in comes the warm stuff again. Nature's way of keeping us dressed right for the season, no shopping required.

Twenty-nine years of shedding, and let me tell you, some years my coat comes out in clumps you could stuff a pillow with. Barbra's probably still finding tumbleweeds of me around the barn.

That's just how it goes though. Old coat's gotta go so the new one can grow.
