Academic success is important.

But students are more than their grades.

They are people with responsibilities, emotions, goals, challenges, pressure, and personal needs.

During National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, we are reminded that support for African American males attending college must include more than academic conversations.

We must also make room for wellness.

We must ask how students are doing.

We must normalize support.

We must encourage students to seek help when they need it.

We must create spaces where Black male students feel seen, heard, valued, and understood.

At A Gift From Tray, part of our mission is assessing the personal and academic needs of Black males attending college.

That means we care about the whole student.

Because success is not just about finishing school.

It is about being supported enough to thrive while you are there.

Share this with a student who needs to know they are not alone.

Trust is built through consistency.

It is built by showing up.

It is built by communicating clearly.

It is built by serving with integrity.

It is built by keeping the mission at the center.

At A Gift From Tray, we understand that people support organizations they trust.

That is why we are committed to being clear about who we are, what we do, and why it matters.

Our mission is to positively impact and support African American malesโ€™ educational experiences through scholarships, group and individual mentoring, and assessing the personal and academic needs of Black males attending college.

That mission guides our work.

It guides our goals.

It guides the way we build relationships with students, families, donors, mentors, and community partners.

We are building with purpose.

We are building with care.

We are building for impact.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

Support is not one-size-fits-all.

For some students, support looks like scholarship assistance.

For others, it looks like a mentor who checks in.

Sometimes it looks like help finding resources.

Sometimes it looks like guidance during a difficult semester.

Sometimes it looks like encouragement when a student is questioning whether he can keep going.

At A Gift From Tray, we want to support African American males attending college in a way that considers both their personal and academic needs.

That means we care about the whole student.

Not just grades.
Not just enrollment.
Not just graduation.

We care about confidence.
We care about wellness.
We care about leadership.
We care about purpose.
We care about long-term success.

That is what support looks like to us.

What does support look like to you?

July 21st was National Be Someone Day. This week reminds us of something powerful: Sometimes all it takes is one person to make a difference.

One mentor.
One encourager.
One donor.
One teacher.
One coach.
One community member.
One person willing to say, โ€œI believe in you.โ€

At A Gift From Tray, we believe African American males attending college deserve strong support systems around them.

They deserve people who ask how they are doing.

People who help them think through challenges.

People who celebrate their wins.

People who remind them that they are not alone.

You do not have to do everything to make a difference.

But you can do something.

You can encourage.
You can share.
You can mentor.
You can donate.
You can connect a student to resources.
You can help us reach more people.

Be someone who helps create opportunity.

Who was someone who made a difference in your life?

Black male scholars matter.

Their dreams matter.
Their goals matter.
Their mental health matters.
Their academic success matters.
Their leadership matters.
Their future matters.

At A Gift From Tray, our mission is centered on supporting African American malesโ€™ educational experiences because we understand that success is not only about getting into college.

It is also about staying encouraged while you are there.

It is about having access to mentorship.

It is about being able to ask for help.

It is about having people who care enough to check in, listen, guide, and support.

When Black male students are supported, they are better positioned to thrive academically, personally, and professionally.

We believe in them.

We are building for them.

And we invite our community to stand with them.

We are building more than a scholarship program.

We are building a community of support around African American males pursuing higher education.

A Gift From Tray is here to provide scholarships, mentoring, encouragement, and resources that help Black males attending college continue moving forward.

But this mission grows when the community grows.

Every follow helps more people learn who we are.

Every share helps our message reach a new family, student, mentor, donor, or supporter.

Every conversation helps build trust.

Every act of support helps us create more opportunities.

If you believe in education, mentorship, Black male achievement, and community impact, we invite you to follow A Gift From Tray and be part of the journey.

Help us grow this mission.

Mentorship can change the direction of a studentโ€™s life.

Sometimes a student does not need someone to have all the answers.

Sometimes he needs someone to listen.

Someone to ask the right questions.

Someone to remind him that one difficult semester does not define his future.

Someone to help him think through his goals, his challenges, and his next steps.

That is why mentoring is part of the mission of A Gift From Tray.

We believe African American males attending college benefit from having access to trusted voices, supportive spaces, and people who understand the importance of both personal and academic success.

Mentorship helps students stay focused.
Mentorship helps students feel connected.
Mentorship helps students grow into leaders.

A scholarship can open a door.

A mentor can help a student walk through it with confidence.

Who is a mentor who made a difference in your life?
