it is fitting that this will be the last post I schedule for the Stevenson Saints Middle School PTA page - today being Father's Day.
My father would have been proud that two of his grandchildren attended (and thrived) at the school he helped to open (then Stevenson Junior High), that he taught at for 26 years, and that he held dear the rest of his life.
As a father, I could not be prouder of my children. My son had two years at SMS (7th & 8th) including basketball & soccer teams, in a play, leader of the Gaming Club, NJHS, a percussionist, and straight-A student. My daughter had three years at/with SMS (6th virtually, 7th & 8th) including Lighthouse, NJHS, Drama Club, Yarn Club, straight-A student including the only SMS student to take high school math this year. Both had many great friends and a few mentors in several teachers. Both had great support by their counselor and principals, too.
As a father, I have been honored to serve as a chaperone, volunteer, fundraiser, spokesperson, and even as a substitute teacher at SMS. I have helped many wonderful teachers and helped to support so many incredible young people. And I was able to witness my children grow through their experiences, achievements, and social events.
For 55 years on and off, my family has been a part of the SMS family.
THANK YOU.
I know with the teachers and administration, and with so many great parents already active in the school, our students are in great hands.
Best wishes.
