🇺🇸 Rotary Welcomes West Point Town Council and Mayoral Candidates!

Over the past several weeks, the Rotary Club of West Point has had the pleasure of welcoming candidates running in the upcoming November 3, 2026, Town of West Point election to speak at our Rotary breakfast meetings.

We extended invitations to all candidates, providing an opportunity for them to share their perspectives, discuss important community issues, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of West Point.

We would like to thank the following candidates for taking the time to join us:

Candidates for Mayor:

Candidates for Town Council:

* Johnny Nein
* James “Jamie” Pruett

Throughout these discussions, candidates shared their thoughts on topics important to our community, including economic development, land use, education, housing, and other issues affecting the future of West Point.

Rotary values civic engagement, community involvement, and informed participation in local government. We appreciate each candidate’s willingness to share their ideas and their commitment to serving our community.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. We encourage all eligible residents to learn about the candidates and exercise their right to vote.

💙 Rotary Guest Speaker Spotlight
This morning, the West Point Rotary Club was pleased to welcome Laura Shreaves, SHRM-SCP, who shared her experience and insight from an impressive 30-year career in Human Resources.
Laura’s career has taken her from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, where she began in Human Resources as an Employment Interviewer, to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she spent 12 years managing staffing and developing a management development program, and ultimately to C&F Bank, where she spent 17 years and served as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).
Throughout her career, Laura has remained passionate about developing people and helping them reach their full potential. She spoke with our members about leadership, employee development, the importance of investing in people, and lessons learned throughout her career in Human Resources.
Now, Laura is bringing that experience into a new chapter as an independent coach and consultant, continuing the work she enjoys most—encouraging, mentoring, and helping others grow.

This morning, the Point Rotary Club was pleased to welcome our guest speakers, Carter and Heather Blevins, owners of Touch Concierge Nursing Services!
Makeda, a Registered Nurse, and Heather shared information about the wide range of services their business provides to individuals and families throughout our region. In addition to offering compassionate in-home care, Makeda also provides CPR training, helping equip individuals and organizations with lifesaving skills.
Their transportation services assist clients throughout West Point, New Kent, King William, Middlesex, Gloucester, and the Northern Neck, ensuring they can safely travel to medical appointments, errands, and other essential destinations.
We appreciate Makeda and Heather taking the time to educate our members about the important services they provide and the positive impact they make in our communities every day.
As a token of our appreciation, Past President John Edwards presented our guest speakers with Rotary mugs to thank them for sharing their time and expertise with our club.
Thank you again, Carter, Heather Blevins, and Touch Concierge Nursing Services, for an informative and engaging presentation. We wish you continued success in serving our community!

The Rotary Club of West Point would like to thank all of the 2026 “Flags for Heroes” sponsors. Without your support we would not be able to provide this patriotic community event. It is always a little sad to see the empty lot after observing the waving Stars and Stripes for three weeks. However, the Veterans Day display is just around the corner.

🎉 A Special Rotary Recognition 🎉
This morning, the club was honored to recognize Diggs as a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow (PHF+2), one of Rotary International's highest honors.

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition is a lifetime honor presented to individuals who exemplify Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self," through their dedication, generosity, and commitment to improving their communities and supporting the work of The Rotary Foundation.

The award was presented by President Sam Drewry, who thanked Paul for his continued service and commitment to Rotary's mission. Please join us in congratulating Diggs on this well-deserved recognition and thanking him for his lasting impact on our club and community. 👏💙💛
