The national weather Bureau in Mount Holly, New Jersey, has posted the following Alert:

We are currently forecasting heat and high humidity to increase over the coming days. An addition to the heat, there are chances and potential for severe thunderstorms to move through our area. Wednesday night, Thursday, and Friday.

Tonight, there’s a possibility of a passing storm with heavy rain. Starting tomorrow, there’s anticipated dangerous heat, and a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms late in a day. Temperature starting tomorrow will be in the mid 80s into the 90s and then progressively getting worse until Friday.

With all heat waves, there is the possibility of disruption of power or power outages. Any event, Power is disrupted or goes out, please contact Jersey Central power and light at 1-888-544-4877 and report your outage and then doing so provide your information and obtain a confirmation number.

Any substantial changes in this report will be reported out

State Highway 36 in West Long branch is closed in both directions between Oceanport Avenue and Myrtle Avenue due to a car pole accident. Due to the severity of the accident and weather conditions this roadway is anticipated to be closed for at least the next 10 to 15 hours.

It is highly recommended to use alternate routes. Utility companies are unseen New Jersey state DOT and New Jersey. State police have set up detours.

Major Road closing/ Detours in Place

Due to a car/pole accident Monmouth Road/ Route71 in West Long Branch is closed in both directions from Cedar Avenue to Hendrickson Place.

Detours have been set up, avoid area if possible, plan on alternate routes. This roadway will be closed for at least 8 to 10 hours.

Blizzard Conditions/High Winds/Power Outages:

First, If you do not have to go out, Stay Home. DO NOT JUST GO OUT TO BE OUT!
Road department crews have been out and attempting to stay on top of keeping all roadways open. Primary being the most important and secondary next

Power outages/Transformer issues: The following is what we know is out. If you have no power waking up please call JCP&L at 888-544-4877 and report same. Currently we have over 950 homes/businesses affected with outages

Outages:
* Parker Road from Locust Ave up into Eatontown Borough
*Lloyd and Summers Ave area
*Rt 71 from Parker Road to State Hwy 36

*Avalon Bay Condo's
* Walgreens
*Holiday Inn Express
*Consumer Center
*Aldi Store

Again if you wake up to no power or disrupted power call JCP&L Please don't assume your neighbor already called

These outages are caused by transformer issues, JCP&L Crews and outside crews have been and are currently working out in Blizzard conditions so please expect a delay in power coming back on.

Road department crews are getting to each roadway and trucks are assigned in each area, They have been fighting this storm all night so again, give them time.

Fire and First aid have been in their stations and responding to calls throughout the night. DPW is assisting them by clearing roads prior to their arrival to ensure little or no delay.

They are referring to this storm as the Blizzard of 26. Folks we are not out of the woods yet, we still have several hours of snow fall and winds and wind gusts are causing Blizzard like conditions.

Check on elderly neighbors, family and Friends

If you try to go out and shovel, take frequent breaks, snow is wet and heavy

If you are not essential, please try to give it a few hours before going out

State of Emergency/Travel Restrictions: 8PM

As of 9pm, Governor Sherrill has placed a mandatory travel restriction until 7am

Exceptions to Travel Restriction, include the following:

* Emergency Personnel and public safety workers, including police fire and EMS
* Public works employees and snow removal crews
* Government Officials conducting Official Business
* Utility Work
* Healthcare workers
* Individuals seeking urgent medical care
* News Personnel
* Personnel supporting emergency shelters & Critical infrastructures
*Workers and essential services including energy, fuel, pharmacies, hardware stores and airport operations.

Governor Sherrill advises that this is a serious storm and she urges all residents to stay inside and stay safe.

At a local level, Our DPW crews are out working and will continue to work through the storm. Please remove all vehicles from snow covered roadways. Cars will receive tickets left out on roadways This situation hampers DPW operations of snow clearing on roads.

Tomorrow after the storm, throwing snow or use of a snowblower throwing snow in roadways is prohibited. It is prohibited that Private contractors plow snow from driveways and leave snow in roadway is prohibited as it causes traffic flow issues.

Reminder: West Long Branch school district is closed tomorrow, WLB Borough hall is closed tomorrow as well. Garbage pick up for North is suspended and next regular pick up will be Thursday.

At 8PM, WLB Police report that roadways are very dangerous and they have responded to car/pole accidents as well as vehicles stuck at intersections in heavy snow. Police urge people that if they don't need to be traveling to stay home. Travel restrictions and Essential personnel only enforcement will begin at 9pm.

Attention West Long Branch Residents:

Blizzard warnings are in effect for the entire State of NJ, Philadelphia and NYC. A coastal Flood warning is also in effect along the coast.

This storm gets underway mid to late afternoon with the heaviest snow falling between 6pm and 6am tomorrow.

Total snow accumulations will be around 24 inches. Monmouth County, Ocean County and the entire eastern half of NJ, NYC included. There is a potential for some areas of Monmouth, Ocean and nearby NJ suburbs of NYC that could receive close to 30 inches depending on where the bands are the heaviest

Today we will experience rain showers until mid day where then, it will switch to sleet and then steady snow by evening

Then from 6pm-6am tomorrow, blizzard conditions with heavy snow falling at a rate of 1-3 inches per hour . Temperatures will fall during that time in the upper 20's with increasing winds, causing zero visibility, also blowing and drifting snow.

During the day tomorrow the snow and wind will continue, adding an additional 2-3 inches. Tapering off mid to late day.

The winds will increase to sustained winds of 20-30 mph with wind gusts up to 50 mph. Blizzard conditions.

Parking on snow covered roadways is prohibited in the borough. This severely hampers road department operations. Please make all attempts to move vehicles to alternate locations to get them off roadways. Tickets will be issued by police and vehicles left has the possibility of being plowed in with heavy wet snow.

Power outages: Please call JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877 and report outage. Provide all information and Obtain confirmation number. Please call 911 for emergencies only.

The status of school closures or delays along with trash pick up for north has not be decided as of yet. please monitor for further updates.

Folks, this has the potential for being a severe snow storm, please take this morning to prepare accordingly.

Good Morning WLB Residents — Storm Preparedness Update

An updated severe winter storm briefing will be issued by mid-morning. In the meantime, please be prepared. Here are some important reminders:

• Power Outages: Have the outage number for Jersey Central Power & Light Company (JCP&L) handy: 888-544-4877.
If your power goes out, report it directly to JCP&L, provide all requested information, and obtain a confirmation number. Do NOT call 911 for outage status or restoration times.

• Heavy, Wet Snow Expected: This storm may produce wet, heavy snow. When shoveling, take frequent breaks and check on your neighbors.

• Keep Vents Clear: Make sure dryer vents, furnace vents, and exterior gas meters are not covered by snow so they can vent properly.

• Fire Hydrants: If you are able, please clear snow from the fire hydrant closest to your home.

• Check on Elderly Neighbors: Please check on elderly neighbors and friends this morning to ensure they are prepared. If not, assist them if possible

• Generator Safety: Portable generators must never be operated inside a home or garage. Exhaust fumes can enter living spaces and are deadly.

• Parking Prohibited on Snow-Covered Roads: No vehicles may be parked on Borough roadways when they are snow covered. This interferes with State, County, and local DPW snow removal operations and may result in a summons and your vehicle being blocked in by plowed snow.

As of this time, public school schedules and north-side garbage collection have not been determined. Updates will follow — please be prepared for possible delays or cancellations.

This storm has the potential to be dangerous. Take time this morning to prepare.

Good Morning residents, I have an update for you on tomorrows coastal snow event. Over the last 24 hours, relatively small changes in the forecast with the track of the storm have resulted in a significant westward shift — bringing the storm track closer to the coastline. This situation remains very sensitive, and even minor tweaks may occur over the next 48 hours are having a big impact on what we can expect here in town.

The storm front is still on track with only minor adjustments, but make no mistake — this is shaping up to be a significant storm for our community. We are now likely looking at a plowable snowfall beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing through Monday morning. The potential for this to become a major winter storm has increased substantially. At this time, 6-10 inches of snow is likely, with the possibility of higher totals depending on how the track ultimately settles or lands, BE PREPARED!

I am asking everyone to begin preparing now. Please remember that parking on snow-covered roads in the Borough is prohibited. Vehicles left on the street prevent our road crews from clearing roads efficiently and safely. If you are able, make arrangements now to move your cars off the roadway so our crews can do their job and keep our streets passable.

I will continue monitoring the latest information throughout the day and will provide a more detailed update later this afternoon. Any updates on possible school closures/delays and also Garbage collection for the north will be posted when learned.

A major winter storm / Nor’easter is expected to impact our area beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing through Monday midday.

A rapidly developing coastal storm will bring heavy snow and strong winds that may create blizzard-like conditions at times Sunday night into Monday morning.

Snow is expected to begin Sunday afternoon, likely starting as a wet snow with little to no accumulation at first. Snow will become heavy around sunset and continue through Sunday night and Monday morning before tapering off around midday Monday.

North to northeast winds will increase Sunday night with gusts approaching 50 mph. These conditions may lead to blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility.

Current forecasts indicate snowfall totals around 12 inches across Monmouth County and surrounding coastal areas, with slightly lower totals possible farther inland. Snowfall amounts may be adjusted as the storm approaches.

There is also a potential for minor coastal flooding in typically flood-prone locations. At this time, widespread coastal flooding is not expected, but conditions will continue to be monitored.

Important Parking Reminder
Parking vehicles on snow-covered roadways is prohibited. Vehicles left on roadways significantly hamper road department operations in clearing streets. Residents are strongly encouraged to move vehicles to alternate parking locations now in advance of the storm.

The West Long Branch Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.
