In January 2006, businessman Michael F*x created The Michael F*x Foundation (MFF). His mission is to enrich the lives of children stricken with serious illnesses by creating programs that will provide assistance and support to the children and their families. The MFF is committed to achieving this goal in several different ways:
Hosts an Annual Holiday Party for children with serious illnesses th
at are being treated at Miami Children’s Hospital. The children and their families get to enjoy a fun-filled day with music and carnival games where each child is granted their greatest holiday wishes. Provides support and optimism for families that are working to overcome the hardships associated with caring for a sick child. Founded The Michael F*x Family Center at Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) where families can seek respite from the struggles of daily hospital living. The Center provides amenities to families, such as showers, laundry facilities, a full kitchen and dining area, family room, private breastfeeding room, movie theater, children’s library, computer room, performing arts center, gym and massage therapy room. The Center is designed to make families feel more at home while their children are hospitalized. The creation of the second Michael F*x Family Center at the Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ is under development. The Center will have all of the same amenities as the original Family Center at MCH. Sponsored missions to Honduras in support of Operation Smile, a medical charity that performs safe, effective cleft lip and cleft palate surgery to children in developing countries. The MFF also supports other charities that provide services for children including Children’s Cancer Caring Center, Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Miracle Network, and Overtown Youth Center.
