✨Alumni Spotlight: Meet Tastery Reed '13.

From public service to personal empowerment, Tastery Reed continues to make a meaningful impact through leadership, mentorship, and advocacy.

In 2013, Tastery was featured in the University of New Haven Oral History Project, sharing his journey and experiences as a member of the Charger community. Today, he is expanding that impact through his upcoming first book, Still Standing: Real Stories of Pain, Growth, and Purpose.

The memoir shares powerful stories of overcoming adversity, growing through life’s challenges, and discovering purpose. Through his work as a life coach, Tastery hopes to inspire and motivate others to achieve both personal and professional success.

His recent accomplishments include:
✔ First Black male investigator hired under Mayor Michelle Wu’s administration to investigate police misconduct for the City of Boston (2022)
✔City of Boston Civic Hero Award recipient (2023)
✔ Inspirational Life Coach of the Year Award recipient by Mr. GBoss (2025)

We are proud to celebrate the impact Tastery continues to make in his community and beyond.

Oluwatoyosi Tomiwa Kehinde ’26 M.S. reflects on her time at the University of New Haven and how her involvement in the campus radio station WNHU helped her discover her voice. She will be among nearly 2,000 students members of the Class of 2026 who will be awarded master's and doctoral degrees.

"To my fellow graduates, I’ll say this: wherever you go next, don’t rush past what you’ve built here," she wrote. "Be proud of the skills, yes, but also be proud of the person you have become to earn them. Whatever you build after this, build with integrity. Build with care. Build in a way you can stand behind it and defend your work."

💛 Why I Give: Final Spotlight — Shaunnaya Williams, Director of Track & Field & Cross Country, whose commitment to our students extends far beyond the field.

Shaunnaya shares, “Giving back to the university isn’t just part of my role; it’s a reflection of my gratitude and responsibility. This institution has shaped lives, opened doors, and built opportunities. As an employee, I’m committed to pouring back into that same foundation so the next generation can thrive even more than the last.”

Her dedication embodies what Giving Day is all about, lifting our students and strengthening the community that shapes them.

✨ It’s Giving Day, and there’s still time to make your impact.
