One weekend a year, the small town of Weippe transforms into Wild Weippe Days with fun for all. This year marks the 4th annual, thanks to community support and local volunteer efforts. President Shawn Mattoon says the goal was to bring back what he remembered growing up and make it more than just rodeo weekend, but a family friendly festival. The third weekend in August comes alive with FREE KidZone games, live music, watermelon eating contests, and lots of memories made.
This year the main stage received a makeover to provide a better area for bands, activities and more. Located next to the The Elkhorn Tavern, the stage has access to power, lighting and shade. There is also bleacher seating now for easier spectator viewing.
The organization works with the City of Weippe to bring vendors of all kinds with merchandise and great food options. Street closure is in effect for one city block, providing a safe environment for attendees and easy detour for drivers. The group also partners with the Weippe Community Club to bring the Clearwater Valley Grass Assassin Racing club for lawn mower drags and circle track racing at the Weippe Mini-park field.
Support for the event includes volunteers that donate many hours to planning and hosting, donations to the fundraiser auction held on Saturday of the event, generous sponsors and community involvement. Your support is greatly appreciated and will help the event continue to grow.
