As Weaverville Summer Day Camp 2026 comes to a close, I can't help but reflect on what an incredible three weeks it has been.
What makes this camp so special isn't just the activities—it's the people. It's a community that believes in its children and is willing to come together to create meaningful experiences they'll remember for years to come.
This summer, our campers paddled the Trinity River with Six Rivers Rafting, learned about local history at the Jake Jackson Museum, connected with Wintu culture through the Wintu Educational and Cultural Council, practiced yoga, expressed themselves through ecstatic dance, met alpacas, explored songwriting, experienced the art and athleticism of Capoeira, visited the U.S. Forest Service Mule Barn to learn about the pack animals and the important work they do in our backcountry, explored map and compass skills and forest ecology with the Trinity County Resource Conservation District, discovered the incredible work of the Trinity River Restoration Program, enjoyed hands-on activities with Trinity County 4-H, learned Leave No Trace with Ascend Wilderness Experience, created beautiful art, bowled, swam, hiked, played, laughed, competed in our Summer Camp Olympics, celebrated with an unforgettable carnival, and, of course, enjoyed some well-earned AhHome Chocolate treats along the way.
Every one of these experiences happened because someone in our community chose to give their time, talents, and passion to our youth.
As the Weaverville Summer Day Camp Coordinator for the Trinity County Resource Conservation District, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who made this program possible.

You sparked curiosity, inspired confidence, and helped our campers build a stronger connection to the natural and cultural treasures of Trinity County.
💚 Thank you to our incredible camp counselors. Your patience, enthusiasm, creativity, and genuine care created an environment where every child felt safe, encouraged, and celebrated. You are the heart of this program.
💚 And to our families—thank you for trusting us with your children. It has been an absolute privilege to share a small part of their summer.

Thank you for your curiosity, your laughter, your kindness, your muddy shoes, your endless questions, and your adventurous spirits. Watching friendships grow, confidence blossom, and smiles fill each day reminded all of us why this camp matters.
It truly takes a village to create something like Weaverville Summer Day Camp, and this community showed up in the best possible way.
If I accidentally left out a person or organization, please know it wasn't intentional. Every partner, volunteer, donor, and supporter played an important role in making this summer a success, and I am sincerely grateful for each of you.
