One of the hardest parts about rescue is losing a dog you love, but it’s even worse when you lose a puppy that had barely started life.
Last night, we lost little Tyson.
We knew it was coming. He wasn’t eating and had to stay in the incubator with oxygen 24/7. He would stop breathing if he ate too much or too fast (1ml syringe at a time and his last feeding he refused after 1/2 oz).
He would turn purple, eyes bulge, and stop breathing for p**ping. It was terrifying every time, but I could normally get him back breathing with oxygen directly into his nose/mouth. His last p**p, I wasn’t able to do that and knew his little body was tired.
Expecting it to happen doesn’t make it any easier. I held him in my arms as he took his last breaths and cried telling him how much I loved him. Then Jorge took over before burying him in a soft blanket, he needs to be comfortable and warm even in death.
His derpy little face is missed, but we have his brother and sister that still need us. They have vet appointments on Friday to evaluate them (Tyson was going to go too) to see quality of life.

I’m sorry we couldn’t save you, but we know you’re breathing easy and had a huge welcoming party when you crossed the rainbow bridge. You have amazing SGER alumni to care for you.
His siblings:
Autumn is the most “normal” even if she can’t walk and kind of scoots along. She has a good chance of a normal to her life.
Ali is able to stand up and even lap milk from a bowl now, but he has the “flattened” ribs/chest like Tyson, just not as severe. He’s also blind in one eye and always sounds snotty (remember he was bit by mom).
We don’t know what will be suggested this Friday, and hope that we can get them caught up developmentally because they are not “right” for 4 week old puppies.
Please spay and neuter your pets!
If you have a litter, siblings, mom’s, and dad’s will all mate with each other! They don’t care they’re related!
