Satilla Advocacy Services Satilla Advocacy Services (SAS) is a r**e-crisis and child advocacy center that also offers prevention education programs to the community.

SAS, located in Waycross, Georgia, with satellite offices in Douglas, Nahunta, and Folkston, is a non-profit organization formed to provide services for sexual assault survivors in Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Coffee, Pierce and Ware Counties. Staff and volunteers are trained in the legal and medical aspects of r**e crisis intervention for survivors of all ages. We provide counseling and emotional s

upport, evidence exams, emergency assistance, and accompaniment and advocacy for survivors and their families. Specialized services for children are also available. In addition to providing these services to survivors and their families, it is the mission of Satilla Advocacy Services to educate the public on how to recognize and prevent sexual assaults.

This past weekend, our Project Coordinator, Paige Brand, had the privilege of representing Satilla Advocacy Services at the Georgia District Exchange Club Convention and Child Abuse Prevention Breakfast.

Satilla Advocacy Services was honored to receive a generous donation from the Georgia District Exchange Club in support of our mission to serve children, families, and survivors in our community. During the breakfast, Paige shared updates on the important work happening at our center, including our child advocacy services, sexual assault response programs, prevention education initiatives, and ongoing efforts to expand support for those we serve.

We are incredibly grateful for the Georgia District Exchange Club's commitment to child abuse prevention and their continued investment in organizations working every day to make a difference in the lives of children and families across our state.

Today, Karan Lott, SANE Nurse, and Maggie Santana, Community Awareness Coordinator, had the opportunity to speak with participants of the Charlton County Jr. Sheriff Academy, hosted this year at Bethune Middle School.

Maggie shared important information on summer safety, recognizing different types of abuse, and the importance of identifying trusted adults to turn to when help is needed. Karan introduced students to the field of forensic nursing, explained the role of a SANE Nurse, and provided a hands-on look at the forensic evidence collection kit she uses. She also shared information about our office and the services available through Satilla Advocacy Services.

We are grateful for opportunities like these to educate and empower young people with knowledge that can help keep them safe and informed. Thank you to the Charlton County Jr. Sheriff Academy for inviting us to be part of this valuable experience!
