Washington, Iowa Chamber of Commerce: Community & Business Development Over 75% of the Chamber membership comprises small businesses.

The Washington Area Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit voluntary organization of and for the Washington business community. It unites hundreds of business and professional firms, creating a unified voice working to improve business and build a better community. It is those myriad of small businesses that make up the backbone of our community, prospering and creating a healthy, positive e

nvironment for conducting business. Above all, the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce is people -- people who understand that through the Chamber they can accomplish collectively what none of them can do individually. The strength of the Chamber lies in attracting the greatest possible number of members from the community, creating a pool of resources from which ideas, energy and finances can be drawn. The Chamber's members elect a Board of Directors, which in turn develops a business plan for each year -- a list of goals and objectives for the betterment of the community. The business plan is accomplished through a strong committee system, the committees and task forces made up of Chamber members. In the Washington Chamber, except for two professional staff, all positions are volunteer.

Cancer Trends and Prevention in Washington County- June 29

🌿 Your Health Matters – Join the Conversation! 🌿

Everyone in our community is encouraged to attend the Cancer in Iowa: 99 Counties Project Community Forum on Monday, June 29, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at the Washington Public Library, Nicola Stoufer Room (115 W. Washington Street), or participate online via livestream.

This free public forum is an opportunity for residents of all ages to learn about cancer trends in Washington County, understand risk factors, and discover practical ways to stay on top of their health right here in Iowa. Experts from the University of Iowa and the Iowa Cancer Registry will share local data and discuss prevention strategies that can help individuals and families live healthier lives.

Whether you're interested in learning more about cancer prevention, supporting a loved one, or simply looking for ways to improve your overall well-being, this event is for you. Together, we can build a healthier future for Washington County through awareness, education, and community engagement.

All are welcome, and your voice matters. We hope you'll join us for this important conversation and take an active role in protecting your health and the health of our community.

Washington Community Theater Presents: Meet Me in St Louis

Based on the heartwarming MGM film, Meet Me In St. Louis is a rare treasure in the musical theatre: a wholesome and enchanting portrait of a turn-of-the-century American family.

It is the summer of 1903, and everyone in the Smith family eagerly anticipates the opening of the 1904 World’s Fair. Over the course of a year, the family's mutual respect, tempered with good-natured humor, helps them through romance, opportunity, and heartbreaks. The musical includes seven of the best-loved songs from the film, plus ten additional Martin and Blane songs written specially for the stage. Memorable musical numbers include "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "The Boy Next Door," "The Trolley Song," and "Whenever I’m with You."

Friends Of Lake Darling Gathered with Chamber Ambassadors To Celebrate the New Handicap Accessible Boat Ramp and Kayak Launch This Past Saturday!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday at Lake Darling to celebrate the completion of the new ADA-compliant, wheelchair-accessible boat ramp!

The Friends of Lake Darling marked this exciting milestone with a kayak launch, ribbon cutting ceremony, and raffle drawing, highlighting the importance of making outdoor recreation accessible to all. It was wonderful to see so many community members come together in support of increased accessibility and inclusion throughout Washington County.

Projects like this help ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and recreation that Lake Darling has to offer. We are grateful for the Friends of Lake Darling and all of the partners, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this project possible.
