Urge Hannaford to stop selling cruel True North salmon - animaloutlook.org/letter-to-hannaford-true-north-salmon/

This is how the dairy industry impregnates cows.

This footage was captured during Animal Outlook’s undercover investigation into Martin Farms in Pennsylvania.

The dairy industry depends on repeated pregnancies to keep cows producing milk. Behind closed doors, workers forcibly impregnate cows as part of routine production on factory farms.

Most consumers never see this process. That’s exactly why investigations matter.

Cows are living, feeling individuals - not production units.

Animal Outlook investigations continue exposing what the animal agriculture industry works hard to keep hidden from the public.

If this footage disturbs you, turn that feeling into action.

Leave dairy off your plate.

Support investigations that expose cruelty inside factory farms.

A cow you ate in 2006 could still be alive today, simply living out her life.

Cows can live well over a decade when they are allowed to age naturally. In meat and dairy production, most are killed when they are still very young, long before their natural lifespan.

She is not a thing. She is someone. She can feel safety and fear, comfort and stress, curiosity and connection. Once we recognize that, it becomes harder to see her as just food.

Every meal is a chance to step away from a system that treats animals as disposable and to move toward a food system rooted in justice and compassion.

Choose meals that do not cost an animal her life. Leave animals off your plate.

Animal Outlook works to expose cruelty, pursue legal justice for animals, and make plant based living more accessible for everyone. When you rethink what is on your plate, you are part of this change.

Factory farming is hiding violence most people never see.

Through our undercover investigations, Animal Outlook has documented routine practices that cause extreme suffering to animals trapped in industrial farms and slaughterhouses.

What we found includes:
• Pigs k!lled in gas chambers
• Chicks having their toes cut off
• Cows subjected to terrifying udder flaming
• Roosters pierced with nose bones to restrict their ability to eat
• Ventilation shutdown, where animals are left inside barns as heat and air are cut off

These are not isolated incidents. They are part of a system that treats animals as disposable products, not living beings who feel fear, stress, and pain.

By exposing what happens behind closed doors, we challenge the industry narratives that keep people in the dark and push for legal, corporate, and cultural change.

Take action for animals. Share this post and commit to leaving animals off your plate.

“Eating meat is inherently wrong.” — Billie Eilish said it. Our investigators show why.

Every scene in this video is real. Filmed inside US factory farms and slaughterhouses where animals are treated as units of production, not living beings who feel fear, pain, and hope.

You’re seeing what the industry spends billions to hide: Confinement so extreme animals can’t move freely, bodies pushed past their limits, violence written into the business model. This is not an accident. It’s the system.

You don’t have to co‑sign this cruelty.

Watch with an open mind. Sit with what you see. Then choose a different future for animals, for our planet, for all of us. Leave animals off your plate and help us keep exposing the truth, pushing the law forward, and making plant‑based the new normal.

If this footage stays with you, it’s supposed to. Let it change something.

Imagine exposing cruelty — and later hearing a manager on camera describe how he “hunted [you] down” on social media and thought about mailing you animal “tongues” and “brains” because you’re an “animal activist.”

In our recent undercover investigation at Cooke Aquaculture’s Bingham, Maine hatchery, a worker is recorded speaking about a *previous* investigator in exactly those terms.

This footage — and the comments it contains — raises serious concerns not only about the treatment of fish, but also about a lack of accountability, and about attitudes toward people who document potential abuse.

Our latest documentation appears to show salmon being struck instead of consistently and properly stunned, fish being cut open while their hearts are still visibly beating, and live fish placed into containers where they may slowly suffocate — all while a manager makes remarks about a whistleblower that suggest a deeply troubling culture.

If this is how a manager talks, what else might be happening when no one is watching?

Hannaford continues to sell Cooke’s “True North” salmon, promoted with industry certifications that are meant to reassure the public — while our footage suggests a very different reality that, in our view, demands urgent scrutiny and accountability.

Here’s how you can help
— Contact Hannaford and urge them to drop True North salmon
— Share this investigation to raise awareness

No one exposing potential cruelty should feel targeted for telling the truth — and no animal should endure what our cameras captured.

This is what they don’t want you to see...

At Cooke Aquaculture’s salmon hatchery in Maine, fish are clubbed with metal bars, kicked, cut open while their hearts are still beating. Some struggle for nearly a full minute after being struck. Others are tossed into garbage bags alive and left to slowly suff0cate.

Workers laugh and brag about treating fish like basketballs. Barrels fill with the d3ad and dy!ng, their suffering written off as “just production.”

These animals feel fear. They fight for their lives. They are not machines.

This is the hidden reality behind glossy ads, family branding, and “certification” labels.

We went back six years after our first investigation — and found more cruelty.

If this footage makes you angry — don’t stop at outrage. Turn it into action.

Cooke Aquaculture’s salmon — sold as “True North” — are still coming from a hatchery where fish are beaten, suff0cated, and left to di3 slowly. The label might say “Best Aquaculture Practices” — but our undercover investigations tell a very different story.

You have power here. Use it.

Here’s what you can do right now:
Share our investigation so no one can say they “didn’t know”
Tell Hannaford to stop selling True North salmon (link in bio)

Every call, every share, every choice chips away at this system of cruelty.

We’re not looking away — and we’re asking you not to either.

They beat fish with metal bars — and call it “Best Aquaculture Practices.”

Our undercover investigator documented fish being clubbed again and again — some left writhing for nearly a minute — live fish tossed into trash bags to slowly suff0cate, and a fish cut open while their heart was still beating.

Workers laughed about “Kobe” shots with live fish. They admitted ignoring leaving open safety screens that can let farmed salmon escape into the Kennebec River. They talked about using feed contaminated by rats — and about tens of thousands of fish dying at once.

Cooke Aquaculture sells salmon under the “True North” label in major grocery stores. The packaging carries a “Best Aquaculture Practices“ certification. The system is telling you this is “responsible” seafood.

We’re here to tell the truth.

Cooke Aquaculture doesn’t get to hide behind marketing. Not on our watch. Not when animals are beaten, suff0cated, dise4sed and discarded in the name of “production.”

You can help — right now:

➡️ Share this investigation and help expose aquaculture cruelty
➡️ Support undercover investigations that hold powerful corporations accountable
➡️ Urge Hannaford Supermarkets to drop True North salmon (link in bio)

Our work is fearless for a reason — because the animals trapped inside these facilities can’t speak our language.

📢 Share. Support. Go vegan. Let’s make this the last generation of fish farms.

Their products carry the "Best Aquaculture Practices" certification, which is supposed to ensure "animal health and welfare," but the reality could not be further from what this certification promises. 🐟💔

Our 2019 investigation into Cooke Aquaculture revealed: 👞 Fish being violently stomped on 🤕 Thrown and handled with complete disregard 😰 Left out of water, gasping and thrashing in distress

"Humane washing" is designed to make us feel better about a system built on suffering. We believe you deserve the truth, and the fish deserve better. ⚖️

They call it a “manicure” — it’s anything but that.

On factory farms, baby turkeys have the tips of their toes burned off — no pain relief, no mercy — all to improve carcass quality at slaughter.

This footage is from Animal Outlook's investigation of a turkey hatchery owned by Foster Farms.

Imagine taking your first steps in the world and having your toes seared away. That’s de‑toeing — and it’s standard practice.

You can help stop this. Leave animals off your plate, choose plant‑based, and share this video to expose what the industry hides. When we see the truth — and act on it — we pull the plug on cruelty.

Together, we can build a food system rooted in justice, not suffering.

They took her baby. They sold her milk. They called it dairy. 💔

Not a one–time tragedy, not a broken system — a business model. Mothers are impregnated, give birth, and then watch their babies taken so the milk meant for their calves can be sold to us. Their grief isn’t an accident. It’s built in.

This Mother's Day, we’re asking a harder question: whose motherhood are we erasing so we can consume dairy ?

If this breaks your heart, let it change your choices.

Honor all mothers — including her.

Help end this cruelty by choosing plant–based milk instead. Then tap the link in our bio to learn more and take action for cows and their calves.
