How do we balance quality of life and the quality of the environment? Each year, over 25,000 high school students across the United States, Canada, and China embark on a journey to find creative solutions to this critical question through the NCF-Envirothon! The Envirothon is an international environmental and natural resource problem-solving competition that builds leadership experience for high

school students (grades 9-12 or ages 14-19). Incorporating STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) principles, experiential learning and hands-on outdoor field experiences, the Envirothon program encourages students to expand their knowledge and explore environmental education and natural resource conservation in the areas of Aquatic Ecology, Forestry, Soils and Land Use, Wildlife and Current Environmental Issues.

This year’s Current Issue — “Non-Point Source Pollution: It begins at home!” — highlights the critical role we all play in protecting water quality, especially in a state rich with vital waterways like the Mississippi, Pearl, Pascagoula, and Tombigbee Rivers. 💧

🙌 WELCOME U.S. Virgin Islands 👉 to the Envirothon family!!

We are proud to have you join as the 55th Envirothon program. It’s exciting that there are now even opportunities for our students to participate and learn more about conservation education.

🌴 Participating students gain experience in regenerative agriculture, conservation, ecosystem restoration, and entrepreneurship, while also building teamwork and problem-solving skills. Along the way, students engage with local farmers, cultural practitioners, environmental experts, and peers across the country.

Student teams will also compete in the 1st Annual St. Croix Envirothon Competition on May 8, 2026. 🌿

We are recruiting 4-6 volunteers to do recaps of their state/provincial competitions this spring.

🙌 This is your chance to be featured on our website and social media pages! 🙌

🌲 What: We need you to attend your entire state/provincial competition and then do a 1 page write-up summarizing the event and interesting/important details. You will also be taking photos and videos to send to us for a social media post.

🦉 Who: We are looking for anyone that will be attending their state/provincial competition as a volunteer or spectator.

We would LOVE to have previous alumni apply!

🐻 When: The deadline to apply is Friday, March 27, 2026.

We will be accepting and picking applicants until that date so the sooner you apply the better!
