On the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, IAWJ spoke with Alejandra Vicente, Head of Law at REDRESS and a member of the GQUAL Secretariat, about the importance of women's leadership in international human rights bodies.
Despite their critical role in advancing equality and accountability, women remain severely underrepresented in the Committee Against Torture (CAT).

At IAWJ, we recognize that the judiciary is the ultimate safeguard against torture. By ensuring accountability and protecting victims' rights, judges play a vital role in making justice a reality for survivors.

On the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, we celebrate the women who are breaking barriers, building bridges, and shaping a more just and peaceful world. 🌍⚖️
Women’s leadership—whether in diplomacy, the judiciary, or public service—is essential to advancing equality, strengthening institutions, and promoting the rule of law.

At IAWJ, we recognize that when women lead, perspectives broaden, institutions become stronger, and justice becomes more inclusive.
Today, we honor women diplomats and all women leaders working across borders and sectors to create lasting change.

Today, on the International Day for Countering Hate Speech, we recognize the harmful impact that hate speech can have on individuals, communities, and the rule of law. 🎤⚖️
Hate speech fuels discrimination, exclusion, and violence, threatening the fundamental principles of equality and human dignity that justice systems are meant to uphold.

At IAWJ, we stand with women judges and judicial leaders around the world who work to protect human rights, promote inclusion, and ensure that every person can access justice free from prejudice and discrimination.

⚖️⚽ Fair Play = Fair Justice
As the world turns its eyes to the match between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Portugal, we are reminded that the values that unite us through sport—fairness, integrity, and respect—are also fundamental to justice.

Today, we are proud to spotlight the reflections of Magistrate Viviane Lenge Mwilambwe from the Democratic Republic of Congo on what fair play means in the courtroom.

⚖️⚽ Fair Play = Fair Justice

As the World Cup brings nations together through a shared commitment to rules, integrity, respect, and fair competition, we are reminded that these same values are at the heart of justice.
Whether on the field or in the courtroom, fairness matters. Decisions must be impartial, rules must be applied consistently, and trust is built when everyone is treated equally.
