Hey DMV climbers, check this out! 馃憞 on March 11th., at AFI Theatre in Silver Springs, MD from 6:30 pm to 8:30pm is hosting the film event of the season-Catching Pinecones, with Will Gadd鈥檚 short Wall of Walls is coming up! If you鈥檝e ever climbed at Carderock or Seneca, or so many other places Jan and Herb put up first ascents, you鈥檒l want to see Catching Pinecones. Honestly even if you鈥檝e never been to those places these two people are some of the most interesting you will ever meet through film.

On the second day of our New Trad Climber weekend, our mentees tackled anchors; and, after waiting out some rain, enjoyed more instruction and small group climbing with many groups heading for Seneca鈥檚 summit.

At the start of June, 17 AAC members participated our second annual New Trad Climber Weekend at Seneca Rocks. Through two days of mentors, eleven climbers launched their trad climbing journeys.

On day one, the mentees gathered at to learn about gear placements, multi-pitch rappel transitions, and belay transitions before taking their skills to the mountain for custom small group instruction.

Begin your trad climbing journey with us during our second annual New Trad Climber Weekend at Seneca Rocks this June!

Once again this program will feature two days of clinics and climbing, during which volunteer mentors will explain the gear used to protect trad climbs and give you an opportunity to place and remove trad gear. To top off the weekend, mentees will have an opportunity to follow an experienced mentor on classic trad routes at Seneca.

What a way to kick off Women's History Month! 馃憦
Thanks to the support of and we were able to bring a whole group of all female climbers to the Adirondack Mountains for some ice climbing! Watching these women learn new skills and have fun connecting and bonding over a shared passion was amazing. Can't wait to do it again next year!

During the second day of our 2025 New Ice Climber Weekend, the new Club ice climbers had a chance to visit Chapel Pond canyon for some Positive Reenforcement and to refine the techniques they learned during the first day.
