🎉 Teamwork makes the dream work! We had an absolutely incredible turnout for our neighborhood cleanup on Saturday!

A massive shoutout to our enthusiastic newly moved-in residents who jumped right in to pitch up, as well as the amazing representatives from the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative, Gregory Jackson Jr.'s campaign, and the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency.

Together, we crushed it and collected more than 40 bags of trash between 16th and 12th Street SE!

Mark your calendars! Our next cleanup is scheduled for June 20th at 9:00 AM. Stay in the know by registering for updates at habadc.org.

🐾 Keeping Historic Anacostia "Step-Friendly!" 🧹✨

We all want a neighborhood that is clean and easy to walk. To help make that a reality, HABA is excited to announce the installation of 16 new pet waste bag stations throughout the community--just in time to celebrate National Responsible Animal Guardian Month!

This project is a true team effort:

💡 Initiated by HABA to address resident concerns.
💰 Funded by Redbrick LMD (developer of the Bridge District DC).
🛠️ Installed by District Department of Transportation.

These stations are strategically placed to provide free, convenient access to waste bags, making it easier for everyone to keep our sidewalks and green spaces tidy. Plus, it helps protect the Anacostia River from hazardous runoff! 🌊🙌

You can help! This is a resident-led model. While HABA board members and neighbors are already on the job, we still need volunteer stewards to help restock and maintain a few locations (stations with an asterisk). You can also support the cause by donating toward the purchase of bags!

📍 Find a station:
• 13th & U / 13th & V / 13th & W St SE
• 14th & V / 14th & W / 14th & Valley St SE

🌳 What a fantastic day in Anacostia! 🌳

We had a great turnout of neighbors for our recent Tree Tour in Anacostia Park, led by the amazing Melinda Peters, Director of Education at Casey Trees!

There’s nothing HABA loves more than pulling together engagement opportunities that bring our residents together to learn, grow, and appreciate the beauty of our community.

Looking ahead: We are aiming for our next tour to be on the historic grounds of the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site this fall!

Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, be sure to check our events calendar and register for updates at www.habadc.org so you don't miss a thing. 💚
