While we’re redrawing maps of America... how about this one?

The White House can rename a lake and get creative with the borders of North Carolina, but it still won’t give 700,000 Americans in DC the legal right to vote in Congress. We know exactly where we are on the map. It’s time to make it official.

Jay Clayton is now confirmed as Director of National Intelligence. On a decision this consequential for our country’s security, 700,000 Americans in DC had zero say. No senators to ask questions. No senators to vote yes or no.

DC residents pay federal taxes, serve in the military, and care deeply about national intelligence and security, yet we’re locked out of decisions like this one. Statehood means DC finally gets the legal right to full representation in the Senate.
