Sport is shaping diplomacy in new ways.

Last night, Meridian welcomed global sports leaders, ambassadors, senior government officials, and business executives for The New Power Play—a conversation on how sport is advancing U.S. global influence, driving economic opportunity, and strengthening connections across borders.

The evening also featured the presentation of the 2026 Meridian Global Leadership Award to Dana White in recognition of his role in building UFC into one of the world's most influential sports organizations and expanding its global reach.

Thank you to Dana White, Mark Shapiro, and Brian Rolapp for sharing insights on the growing role of sport as a force for diplomacy, commerce, and cultural exchange.

As space becomes more crowded, connected, and commercially driven, international cooperation has never been more important.

Last week, Meridian International Center welcomed Aarti Holla-Maini, Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), for a conversation on the future of space governance, sustainability, and global coordination.

Bringing together diplomats and industry leaders representing 22 countries, the discussion explored how governments, international organizations, and the private sector can work together to ensure the peaceful and responsible use of outer space.
