Another round of Boxes of Basics is headed to National Guard families! 📦💜
What started as a partnership has become something tangible: children receiving clothing, shoes, books, hygiene items, and other everyday essentials — thoughtfully packed to provide not only what they need, but the dignity and confidence every child deserves.
These photos are what community partnership looks like. From Boxes of Basics preparing each box, to our military and community partners helping get them where they need to go, every step brings support closer to a Guard family.
We are incredibly grateful to Boxes of Basics and everyone helping us make this program possible. Together, we're filling gaps, supporting families, and making sure military children know their community is behind them.

On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed.

Today, the National Guard Relief Foundation pauses to remember the lives lost, the families whose lives were forever altered, and the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who answered tragedy with extraordinary courage.

In the days, months, and years that followed, members of the National Guard stood ready—serving at home, deploying abroad, and answering the call to protect our nation and our communities. Their service, and the sacrifices made by their families, remain part of the enduring legacy of September 11.

Twenty-five years later, we remember those we lost. We honor those who served. And we remain grateful for the men and women who continue to stand ready when our nation calls.

Never forgotten. Always honored. 🇺🇸

❤️ Have You Received Assistance from NGRF? We’d Love to Hear Your Story.

The National Guard Relief Foundation has had the privilege of helping Guard members and families through SARGE grants, interest-free loans, and other emergency financial assistance. Now, we’re looking for a few individuals who may be willing to share how that support made a difference during a challenging time.

Your story matters. It shows our resource partners how their support is helping National Guard members and families, creates real impact, and may encourage other National Guard members to seek assistance—even when asking for help feels difficult.

You do not need to share personal financial details publicly and if you'd prefer to remain anonymous, we can connect privately first and discuss what you are comfortable sharing.

Our donation initiative ends TODAY Saturday, August 1 at 8:00 PM CST. When the timer hits zero, the leaderboard locks. Winners announced Sunday at our conference session! If you're at Daytona we are in Ocean Center 103B. Couldn't be there? We will be virtual and we will announce winners here.

📦 Boxes of Basics is OPEN Again! 💙

Beginning August 1, 2026, applications for the Boxes of Basics program are open again for Virginia Guardsmen families. Please note that we are limited to 15 applications per month, so applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each thoughtfully curated Box of Basics provides children with everyday essentials while restoring confidence and dignity. Every box includes:
• 4 school outfits
• 4 play outfits
• 1 dress-up/Sunday outfit
• 1 pair of pajamas
• New shoes
• 5 new pairs of socks
• 5 new pairs of underwear
• A weather-appropriate coat
• 2 age-appropriate books
• A hygiene kit

Every outfit is individually wrapped and labeled, creating a meaningful, gift-like experience for each child.

Through our partnership with Boxes of Basics, we're proud to help eligible Virginia National Guard families access essential clothing and supplies for their children during challenging times.
