All Ocracoke ferries are suspended at this time. But the GOOD NEWS is that we have averted any road damages thus far! Neither the north end of Ocracoke nor the Pea Island area has reported major damage.

⛴️ Good morning! Ferry service is suspended along all routes EXCEPT Southport-Fort Fisher. All suspended routes except one are due to the nor’easter bringing strong winds and rain to the coast. We will alert you when we are able resume normal ferry service.

Work crews for the North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin work Monday, Oct. 12, to replace the U.S. 264 bridge over the Pungo River at the Beaufort-Hyde County line. Proceed through the areas with caution and follow any posted signs.

This latest weather system has remained on track of recent predictions. We are all hopeful the work put in to rebuild the road closest to Pea Island will remain intact. We are certain the Shanon has his eyes to the skies and ears to ground in preparation for any work he may need to do on our north end.

On-off rain through the day with thunder chances increasing along the southern coast this afternoon. Rain becomes heavier overnight. Rain continues Sunday but begins to wane second half of the day. Locally heavy rain, breezy to windy, with dangerous surf, and marine conditions.
