Meet SAR K9 Frankie 🐺 She is AMPWDA-certified in human remains detection and serves with Valley Water Rescue in Minnesota.

On one deployment, Frankie helped bring closure to a family after searching through frigid temperatures in a snowstorm.

Unpredictable terrain can put Frankie’s safety and search work at risk. As a valuable member of her team, community, and family, she deserves to be protected.

Right now, K9 Frankie is on the waitlist for a K9 Storm Inc. ballistic vest through our K9 Krijger Ballistic Vest Campaign.

A $3,500 vest is custom-fitted to support her mobility, endurance, and safety in the field.

We take this moment to remember K9 Falco, a hero whose legacy endures in one of the four stars of the Spike’s K9 Fund logo. KIA 6/15/2008 🐺❤️

Though our founder was not Falco’s handler, they served together in combat. Falco was known for his playful energy, sharp instincts, and unwavering focus and loyalty when his team needed him most.

During an operation, Falco located an enemy group in hiding and alerted his team, giving them the chance to respond and helping protect them from the worst outcome. In the line of duty, Falco was shot twice in the chest with an AK-47 and gave his life protecting his brothers in arms.

The last clip features Keith “Wally” Walawender, CEO of Tomahawk Strategic Solutions, who remembers Falco from their time together in the field.

We’re privileged to share Falco’s story and deeply grateful to Tomahawk Charitable Solutions for their belief in our mission to serve the K9 community.

Falco, you are always missed and honored through every K9 we protect.

Working K9s are often the quiet force behind the people who protect our communities. One protected K9 means more people are kept safe: the handler beside them, the team around them, and the community counting on them to come home.

Anderson Cooper 360 has long understood the value of these four-legged heroes and the difference people can make when they choose to stand behind them.

We’re grateful for the ways he has used his voice and support over the years to help more working K9s receive the life-saving protection they deserve.

The American Tactical K9 Conference is coming up this October in Indiana, and volunteers are needed to support the event.

If you’re experienced around working K9 teams, handler training days, event logistics, or fast-moving training environments, this is a great opportunity to step in.

Spike’s K9 Fund is proud to sponsor select K9 teams to attend ATK9, and connecting reliable volunteers is another way we can support the handlers, instructors, and dogs putting in the work.

Great news, Spike’s Pack. 🐺❤️‍🩹 SAR K9 Lux is gradually returning to training while rebuilding strength, stamina, and mobility through rehab.

It has been a long recovery journey, with Lux undergoing her first TPLO surgery in December 2025 and her second in January.

Thanks to our generous donors, Spike’s K9 Fund was able to support both surgeries, allowing Lux and her handler to focus fully on her healing and care.

Your support helped give Lux another chance to return to the work she loves. As part of Pennsylvania's SAR team, PaWSAR, Lux helps locate the missing, support recovery efforts, and bring closure to families.

Thank you for helping make the next chapter possible for this hero.
