We’re looking for the next K9 of the Year! 🐺 🏆

Help us tell the story of a working K9 who deserves to be celebrated. If you know one, now’s your chance to tell us all about them, their service, and the impact they’ve made in the community.

To be eligible, the K9 must:

✓ Have received support through a Spike’s K9 Fund program

✓ Be actively certified and deployable

✓ Serve in law enforcement, the military, or search and rescue

👉 Please note that nominations should be submitted by a member or authorized representative of the K9’s law enforcement agency or department who can speak to the K9’s service, accomplishments, and contributions.

Medical emergencies are some of the most pressing scenarios working K9 teams face on the job. 🩺

Our K9 Emergency Medical Course helps build readiness in handlers by teaching them to recognize and respond to urgent medical problems.

For Chief Deputy Mullins, who recently completed the course, the training provided practical skills he can carry into the field with his K9 partner, Major.

If you know a law enforcement or search and rescue K9 team in Texas or North Carolina that could benefit, let them know approved applicants can attend for FREE.

A few limited spots are still open:

Meet K9 Preacher 🐺 He serves with the Chesterfield County Police Department in Virginia as a patrol K9.

Preacher has already assisted with several warrant services and is expected to attend explosives detection school soon.

Because his work regularly puts him in high-risk situations, Preacher needs reliable protection on the job. He’s currently on the waitlist for a K9 Storm Inc. ballistic vest through our K9 Krijger Ballistic Vest Program.

Your support can help get him equipped before the next call.

High-risk deployments demand K9 and tactical teams that know how to work together before the call comes.

Our High Risk Deployments Course (LEO) gives handlers practical experience in the communication, control, and coordination needed for those situations.

The course is coming to South Euclid, Ohio, from Nov. 3–5, 2026. 📍📅

Led by Steve Stoops of Zane Protection Dogs, participants will spend three days learning how to better integrate their K9s into SWAT and tactical teams.

Realistic scenarios will help strengthen operational obedience, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure.

K9 Bud was working a pursuit on a 93-degree day when his handler, Cpl. Phil Brower, noticed signs of heat exhaustion and acted quickly.

With other officers handling the suspect, Phil focused on Bud and asked a nearby family if they could use their pool to help him cool down. The family stepped in without hesitation. ❤️🐾

Phil is also one of our dedicated volunteers and the driving force behind our annual Iron Dog event, so we’re especially proud to see him put his partner’s safety first when it mattered most.

A big thank you to the family who opened their backyard and pool to help K9 Bud. 🙌
