Stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to incredible connections! 💙

Recently, BEST Kids mentors traded their everyday routines for an exciting Aerial Yoga Mentor Social—and it was a day filled with laughter, encouragement, and new experiences.

Beyond the fun, this event gave mentors and BEST Kids staff the opportunity to connect, build stronger relationships, and strengthen our supportive mentoring community. From cheering each other on during class to continuing conversations over lunch, the day was all about connection, wellness, and community.

At BEST Kids, we know that supporting our mentors is just as important as supporting our youth. Events like these help create meaningful relationships, increase mentor engagement, and build a stronger network of caring adults dedicated to empowering youth in foster care and at-risk youth across Washington, DC.

🌟 Mentor of the Month: Obinna "Obi" Okonkwo 🌟

Join us in celebrating Obi, our BEST Kids Mentor of the Month! 💙

Obi believes that every young person deserves guidance, encouragement, and opportunities to reach their full potential. Through mentorship, he helps his mentee build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and learn that it's okay to ask for help when challenges arise.

One of Obi’s favorite mentoring moments came when he encouraged his mentee to work through frustration during a painting activity rather than give up. That experience became a valuable lesson in perseverance, resilience, and self-confidence—exactly what mentorship is all about.

For Obi, the greatest reward is witnessing those "lightbulb moments" when a young person discovers a new passion, gains confidence, or realizes what they are capable of achieving.

👏 Thank you, Obi, for your dedication, leadership, and commitment to empowering DC youth. Your impact extends far beyond today and helps create brighter futures through mentorship.
