This field manual found in the House of the Temple Museum & Library's collection was printed in 1782 during the American War of Independence by American Founding Father and Freemason Baron Von Steuben. In this important work, von Steuben laid out standards on how to set up camps, organize defenses, and arrange troops on the battlefield—information sorely needed at the time by the fledgling Continental Army.
