Bringing the community together, one beat at a time!

This weekend, our Director of Youth and Community Outreach joined the MPD Side-by-Side Police Go-Go Band for a special community performance!

It was a day filled with music, positive energy, and community connections, reminding us that sometimes the best way to bring people together is through the power of music!

Another day of Dancing for Donuts! 🍩

Our Iron Star team partnered with 5th District officers and the MPD Cadet Corps to host a “DANCING FOR DONUTS” at the Mary McCloud Bethune Elementary school.

Outstanding students were awarded participation as an incentive for good behavior and good grades. The youth and the officers all danced after tasting the delicious Sandy Pony donuts. The Fifth Graders took the win home for outstanding donut dance moves!!! Positive engagement + yummy snacks = Amazing Day!

Family Movie Night in Westphalia!

We teamed up with the Prince George’s County Police Department COPS (Community Oriented Police Services) Unit for a fun-filled evening with families in the Westphalia community!

Families settled in for a showing of Zootopia while our teams kept everyone fueled with hot pizza, popcorn, snacks, and plenty of smiles.

We love creating opportunities for families, officers, and neighbors to come together, have some fun, and strengthen community connections.

Sometimes, getting back on your feet starts with something as simple as a stocked kitchen.

Our Iron Star team partnered with the MPD 4th District Outreach Team to deliver groceries to a family of four in the Georgia Avenue community. After experiencing homelessness for four months, a mother and her three children recently moved into a new apartment and are beginning a new chapter together.

While facing serious health challenges, this mom continues to push forward for her family—and we were grateful to help make their transition a little easier by providing groceries and essentials for their new home.

This is what community is all about: showing up, lending a hand, and helping our neighbors move forward.

Starting the day with a smile!

Our Iron Star team partnered with the Executive Office of the Chief of Police Outreach Team and the MPD Cadet Corps to bring a little extra joy to the morning at Cedar Tree Charter School!

More than 450 students and staff were greeted by officers with big smiles and breakfast snacks to help kick off their day on a positive note. 💙

A simple smile can go a long way—and we loved starting the morning together!

The Queens are dreaming BIG!

I were proud to partner with the Executive Office of the Chief of Police and the 6th District Outreach Team for our monthly “The Queens” Mentor Group!

This month, the girls focused on sexual education, healthy relationships, and setting goals for the future through interactive activities, open conversations, and vision boards.

The afternoon wrapped up with a healthy meal, meaningful conversations, and sharing their dreams for what’s ahead.

We’re proud to help these young women dream big, know their worth, and believe in their future!

Back to School Essentials on Us!

Our Iron Star team partnered with all seven Metropolitan Police Department districts to help 60 local kids get ready to head back to school!

Each child received a backpack filled with school supplies, Chick-fil-A lunch, and a personalized shopping trip alongside an MPD officer or cadet to pick out school uniforms, underclothes, socks, and other essentials.

Full bellies, packed backpacks, and plenty of bright smiles made for a pretty great day. A huge thank you to our MPD partners for helping make back-to-school shopping a little more special for these kids!

🧩 Tufting Together, Growing Together!

Our Iron Star team joined the young creators at Badger Bear Youth Summer Camp for a hands-on tufting project focused on creativity, teamwork, and inclusion!

Campers worked alongside officers to create a heart-shaped rug featuring colorful puzzle pieces for Autism Awareness—learning how to safely use a tufting machine while bringing their design to life.

💙❤️💛💚 Every piece matters. Every child matters.

Some moments remind us that even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference.

After a frightening incident in the Benning Courts community, our own Arnita Hamilton and her daughter saw children who had just experienced a scary afternoon and chose to stop. While officers worked diligently to secure the scene and conduct their investigation, they handed out ice cream from the back of their car to help bring a few smiles to the neighborhood.

We’re incredibly proud of Arnita for leading with compassion and showing what our Iron Star Foundation is all about—being present for our communities when they need it most. 💙
