After 40 years of dedicated service in the Martin Brower warehouse, Gordon Schroter is set to retire. Gordon was instrumental in helping the warehouse unionize in 1998, and throughout his career he consistently put his coworkers’ issues and well‑being ahead of his own.

If you were a new employee looking for someone to model your career after, Gordon was your guy. His leadership, integrity, and selflessness set the standard for all of us.

Enjoy your retirement, Gordon—you’re going to be missed by each and every one of us.

Local 639 was on Capitol Hill advocating for the Faster Labor Contracts Act.

President Davis, along with members Chrissy Hayes, Curtis Howard, and Becky Figliozzi, met with legislators to demand real action to help our members secure a first contract at Glenstone Museum, Verbal Beginnings, and other workplaces across the country.
Our members should not have to wait years for their first contract. It’s time to hold companies accountable and ensure workers get the fair and timely contracts they deserve. 💪✊

Teamsters brothers, sisters, spouses, and partners turned out in full force this Valentine’s Day—February 14, 2026—for a powerful organizing action at the Glenstone Museum, standing strong in solidarity with the workers.

Teamsters Local 639 led the on‑site effort, with International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) organizers Dwayne Johnson and Kristanto Tirajoh driving the campaign to help empower and support the workforce.

Decked out in Teamster gear, members toured the museum grounds and showed unwavering unity, lifting up Glenstone workers as they push for their very first collective bargaining agreement. Many workers said they were encouraged and inspired to see such a large group of supporters standing with them in their fight for a fair contract.

Local 639 Teamsters and former employees from a variety of bargaining units—including WSSC, UPS, and Verbal Beginnings—also came out to show their support.

General President Sean O’Brien and General Secretary‑Treasurer Fred Zuckerman hit the road to visit our Local 639 members at Fort Myer Construction, Eight O'Clock Coffee, UPS and Giant — and the membership was fired up to meet them. The excitement on the shop floors and breakrooms was undeniable as members got the chance to speak directly with the GP and GST about the work they do every day.

They were joined by Local 639 President Bill Davis, Secretary‑Treasurer Scott Clark, Recording Secretary Chuck Bollino, and Business Agents Roland Davis, Mark Grinevicius, Joe Freeman, and DaWayne Epps, all standing strong with our hardworking brothers and sisters across the region.

💪 Solidarity. Strength. Real conversations with the membership.
