In partnership with the National Children’s Theatre, Woolly Mammoth will host a Childcare Matinee performance for each mainstage production of the season.

This childcare is for age groups 3-5 and 6-12 and will feature special workshops at Woolly so guardians can enjoy the performance.

It is hard to believe the school year has already begun! Before we jump into fall we wanted to take a look back at the amazing summer we had. 6 weeks of theatre education camps made the summer fly by! We are so proud of all our campers and can’t wait for next year. A big thank you to all our Teaching Artists, Student Teachers, and staff for all their hard work to make National Children’s Theatre Summer Camp 2026 possible.

A delayed thank you and congratulations to Lucy Wall, our spring High School Intern who helped bring our production of Matilda Jr. to life.

For her senior project for Basis Charter School in D.C, Lucy served as the Set and Properties Designer for our spring musical theatre production of Matilda Jr. Lucy's project focused on the intersection of STEM and live theater. She was an important member of the creative team and handmade several of the props featured in the show!

We are so excited and proud of National Children’s Theatre Young Performer Henry Hampton Bedford for being cast in Signature Theatre’s production of Merrily We Roll Along as Frank Jr. Understudy!

We can’t wait to see you shine and congrats on this awesome achievement from everyone here at NCT.

Merrily We Roll Along runs from August 25-November 1st at Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA.

We are very excited to announce that Raine Ensign will be joining the National Children’s Theatre team as Education Director! We are thrilled to have their expertise, kindness, and wisdom to help guide our programming in the future.

Raine is an educator, director, and theatre maker in the DC area. They have been teaching classes and camps with NCT since summer of 2025. Raine recently served as the Drama Teacher for Two Rivers PCS in Washington DC and as a Program Manager for the Learning Department at Shakespeare Theatre Company. Raine has also worked as a Teaching Artist with ArtStream, Imagination Stage, Olney Theatre Center, BlackRock Center for the Arts, Alexandria Children's Theatre, and InterAct Story Theatre.

It’s hard to believe we are already one week in at National Children’s Theatre’s Summer Camp 2026!

Session 1 groups are having a blast rehearsing for their showings of The Odyssey (ages 12-15) and devising a piece based on a story from Norse mythology about Thor, the god of thunder (ages 9-11).

We have 3 more sessions left this summer, running from July 27 to August 21. The 6-8 age group is sold out, but there are still a few limited spots in each remaining session for students ages 9-11. Sign up on our website now to secure your spot!

Despite the heat, we had a blast walking in the Capitol Hill 4th of July Parade this past weekend!

It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet new ones. :)

National Children’s Theatre will be marching in the Capitol Hill 4th of July parade!

Come join us on 8th St SE to learn more about us, say hello, and get some treats. The parade will begin at 10am and don’t forget to bring water- it’s hot out there!
