A 38-foot Hacker Craft triple cockpit runabout from 1930 — one of only two ever built with twin engines. This is as rare as wooden boats get.

John Hacker designed some of the fastest and most beautiful mahogany runabouts in American history. This triple cockpit layout could seat 13 people and cruise at 50 miles an hour. That was astonishing for its time.

After a full restoration with new twin Crusader V-8s, new decks and bottom, and fresh leather throughout, this boat looks like it just left the factory. It was found, saved, and brought back to life — exactly the kind of story that keeps the classic boat world going.

my 1948 Chris Craft 30’ Salon has a small block chevy with a single overhead carb
i had a scary situation yesterday. with the engine warm i went to dock. i shifted into neutral on the way to going into reverse to slow the vessel.
before i could go from neutral to reverse the engine cut out.
i took it out of gear, restarted and gave it some throttle to keep it going.
again, when i moved back into gear it cut out before i could get it into gear it cut out again
i am concerned about the engine cutting out and taking the bow into the dock.
one person suggested i need a spacer for the carb.
any other suggestions?

Hull number one of only twelve ever made. This 1952 Richardson Boat Works Barrelback was built in Meaford, Ontario and sold exclusively through Dawson Marine. Its restorers brought it back to show-quality condition right down to the flathead Ford V8 that was rebuilt with barely any hours since. The barrelback shape gives it a profile you don't see every day. A rare Canadian-built piece of wooden boat history.
