U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council Mercosur Representative Beatriz Pupo recently spoke at the Argus Latin American Biofuels & Feedstocks Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The conference gathered 200 senior executives and industry leaders to discuss regional biofuels market trends, sustainable aviation fuel scaling and regulatory changes.

“Ethanol adoption results in more affordable fuel prices for consumers and improves air quality. Furthermore, U.S. ethanol producers are strengthening food security by supplying high-protein animal feed globally via corn co-products like distiller’s dried grains with solubles (DDGS),” Pupo said.

The Council’s first U.S. sorghum mission to Southwest China, where the delegation focused on the livestock sector. The region—particularly Sichuan Province—has a young demographic. Visiting modern livestock and meat processing facilities, the team observed how Chinese producers are responding to intense competition through refined management, technological innovation, and cross-business synergies. End-users’ feedback confirmed that rising consumer expectations for quality protein continue to drive demand for high-quality grain inputs.

The group visited Dekon, a major agricultural enterprise with its headquarters located in Chengdu, China. Dekon operates in food and agriculture, focusing on livestock and farming. Dekon is designed for an initial processing capacity of 2 million pigs annually, with plans to scale up to 6 million over time.

Get to know our industry relations intern, Jadyn Taylor! During her internship, Jadyn is assisting our industry relations department as they prepare for our 66th Annual Board of Delegates Meeting, held July 29-31 in Milwaukee, WI, and for Export Exchange 2026, scheduled to be held in Seattle, WA, Oct. 15-17.

Taylor is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in hospitality, restaurant and tourism management.

“Each year, the Council partners with the Nebraska Corn Board to welcome a summer intern and we are delighted to have Jadyn with us to backstop the department’s work while helping her skills develop to foster the next generation of U.S. agricultural sector leaders,” said Ellen S. Zimmerman, USGBC director of industry relations.

The U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council recently co-hosted the 2026 Seoul Biofuels & Sustainable Aviation Fuel Conference in Seoul, South Korea. The event attracted 270 participants, including policymakers, academics, fuel suppliers and other energy and transportation industry stakeholders.
