Today, the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) honors the extraordinary life and legacy of Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. as a tireless advocate for justice, economic empowerment, and opportunity for all.

Reverend Jackson understood, long before it became commonplace, that economic justice and civil rights are inseparable. Through his leadership of Rainbow PUSH Coalition, he championed supplier diversity, corporate accountability, and access to opportunity in industries that shape our nation’s future including energy.

AABE’s mission of providing input into the deliberations and developments of energy policies, regulations, emerging technologies, and environmental issues reflects the very spirit of Reverend Jackson’s lifelong work. He believed that our communities must not merely be consumers of policy outcomes, but architects of policy design. That belief continues to guide our engagement with regulators, utilities, corporations, and policymakers across the country.

Reverend Jesse Jackson’s life reminds us that progress requires persistence, courage, and coalition-building. His legacy challenges us to ensure that energy is not only innovative, but also inclusive.
