Every young adult can attain economic mobility, regardless of ZIP code, background or race.

Capital Partners for Education (CPE) provides a structured continuum of one-on-one mentoring, academic support, and career preparation services to low-income high school and college students from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, guiding them to and through college, and into sustainable career paths. Over the past ten years, 97 percent of students who complete the CPE high school mentoring program enroll in college and graduate at more than double the rate of their similarly situated peers

Prena tells us, "Malia and I have had a wonderful time getting to know each other over the past few months. We’ve found a lot in common and our casual chats about our interests has led to a greater understanding of each other! It was a casual conversation about our weekend and a serendipitous conversation with people at Spark that led to us seeing a fun (and victorious) Caps game! Definitely the highlight of our time together."

Still smiling from our recent college bus tour to George Mason and Morgan State!! 🚌😎⁠

It was a great day for our participants to get out together, spend time on campus, and experience two very different college environments firsthand. From walking around campus to taking photos, to laughing on the bus, the trip gave students a chance to explore what could be next for them in a real and memorable way.⁠

We’re grateful to both schools for welcoming our group and helping make the day such a positive experience.⁠

Working closely with the Programs Data Manager, this position will ensure that Spark’s data systems, reporting, and communications run accurately and efficiently across our programs.

👉🏼 Senior Recruitment Coordinator (Youth Programs):
This position will serve as a trusted point of contact for mentors, students, families, and partners while driving recruitment strategy, improving systems, coordinating events, and ensuring a high-quality experience from first interaction through final match.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our very first Book Club fireside chat! 🔥💬

We’re especially grateful to our guest author, Will Jawando, for such an inspiring and thoughtful conversation on mentorship, guidance, and the lasting impact of community.

One message that stayed with us: even brief moments of guidance and support can shape the course of a young person’s life. It was an honest, meaningful conversation, and we’re thankful to everyone who showed up, listened, and contributed.

A career event…but make it a tailgate??

We joined Crafting Futures at Northwest Stadium with Clark Construction, the Washington Commanders, and dozens of local trade partners—and it delivered.

This wasn’t panels or presentations. It was movement, noise, and hands-on action from the start!

Our students:
🔨 Jumped into real construction activities
🔨 Connected with pros across different trades
🔨 Learned about apprenticeships and career paths that don’t require a college degree
🔨 Got a glimpse of the earning potential and real opportunities in the industry
🔨 And yes… showed up for the giveaways, gear, and Commanders energy too!

Huge thanks to Clark Construction for creating an experience that was hands-on, high-energy, and genuinely engaging from start to finish.
