The Draft RFK Campus Master Plan is out and comments are due August 14!

Shepherd Branch Trail as a key connection to the future RFK Campus.

Call to Action:

Insist the RFK site development prioritize multimodal access by developing Shepherd Branch Trail which will connect to the Anacostia River Trail.

Provide community access via the Shepherd Branch Trail to the RFK campus, Kingman and Heritage Islands.

DDOT completed the feasibility study. CSX is ready to sell the corridor. Now it’s time to build the connection.

June was full of community, connection, and momentum for DC Go-Go Trails Collective! 🌿💚

This month, we had the opportunity to connect with residents at the Ward 7 Juneteenth Parade and host a community workshop at the Anacostia Library for the proposed Shepherd Branch Trail.

Every conversation, question, and new connection brings us one step closer to creating safe, welcoming trails that connect people to parks, neighborhoods, recreation, and one another.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared ideas, and supported this growing effort. Your voices are helping shape the future of trails East of the River.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to seeing you at future walks, workshops, and community events!

What does the future Shepherd Branch Trail look like through the eyes of a child? 🌈🌳💚

At Kenilworth Courts Community Day, kids filled our trail coloring sheets with flowers, hearts, trees decorated for the holidays, rainbows, and even drawings of themselves enjoying the trail.

Their artwork reminds us that trails are more than transportation corridors. They are places for joy, imagination, nature, and community connection.

As we envision the future Shepherd Branch Trail, we’re building a space where children and families can walk, bike, play, explore, and create lasting memories together.
