Manor House Chapter NSDAR Manor House Chapter, based in the District of Columbia, was organized January 6, 1898. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

Manor House Chapter, located in the District of Columbia, is part of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, whose members trace their ancestry back to service in the American Revolutionary War. The Daughters of the American Revolution is a lineage-based membership service organization for women who are directly descended from a person involved in United States' independe

Chapter member Elise was proud to attend the annual Cameo Club ice cream social and share about her maternal ancestors for the club's meeting program. The Cameo Club of DCDAR is open to all Daughters who have someone on their maternal line who has also joined DAR--in DC or otherwise. 4 Manor House Daughters are currently members--be sure to listen up for information on joining at future meetings.

Manor House was excited to partner with the George Washington C.A.R. Society to welcome three Honor Flights this morning from Ohio, Indiana, and New York. Thanks to all who participated in this moving morning, which welcomed over 225 veterans to DC, including Al, a World War II veteran from NY.

Today we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to the United States of America.

Memorial Day was first observed nationally in 1868 at Arlington National Cemetery to decorate the graves of fallen Union soldiers from the Civil War. Following World War I, observance was expanded to include American service members lost in all armed conflicts.
