We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of the brilliant Duncan Sheik.
Duncan’s music holds a special place in Monumental’s story. We had the privilege of producing Spring Awakening in 2023 and American Psycho in 2024. Duncan was kind enough to come see American Psycho and joined our cast for an impromptu, stripped-down performance. It was a moment amid the beautiful chaos of the show that brought us back to the music, and to each other. It’s a moment we’ll treasure forever.
His music gave a generation of theatermakers a new language for what a musical could be. We’re so grateful to have played a small part in carrying that work forward.
Thank you, Duncan, for the music. 🤍
