Will Hawaiʻi be RxP state #9?

SB847 passed put of conference committee today and it is a fabulous bill!

https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/sessions/session2026/bills/SB847_CD1_.htm

The bill is a three year pilot study at select sites on Kauaʻi AND Hawaiʻi island.

Here are the highlights:

*three year pilot study
*physician or psychiatrist supervision
*18-65 age limit
*FQHCs on islands of Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi
*“psychotropic medications prescribed under this pilot program shall be eligible for medicaid reimbursement to the extent such prescriptions would otherwise be eligible if prescribed by a physician or psychiatrist.”
*report due 2029
*minimal formulary restrictions (no narcotics)
*no diagnostic limitations

Two more big steps until we are done:

1. floor votes for both Chambers next week
2. Governor’s signature
