A Historic Journey to Africa: Connecting Washington, DC with Morocco and Ghana

From October 24 to November 1, 2025, the Greater Washington DC Black Chamber of Commerce (GWBCC) proudly participated in a historic Chamber Trade Mission to Morocco & Ghana, in partnership with the Airtifae Group in collaboration with a powerful delegation of business leaders from Washington, DC.

This mission provided an invaluable opportunity to explore international pathways for our members and the DC business delegation, which included representatives from the DC Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Together, we connected with key institutions in thriving markets, strengthening ties that will expand trade and investment between Africa and the Washington, DC region.

Beyond the boardrooms and business meetings, our delegation had the chance to immerse ourselves in the rich cultures of each country from specialized tours to visits of local markets gaining an authentic, on-the-ground perspective of how culture, creativity, and commerce intersect. These experiences deepened our appreciation for the entrepreneurial spirit that makes Morocco and Ghana such vital global partners.

With a focus on key sectors such as hospitality & tourism, professional services, innovation, healthcare, and information technology the mission also laid the groundwork for strategic MOUs and bilateral partnerships designed to empower SMEs across both regions.

A heartfelt thank you to the Embassies of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Ghana in Washington, DC, whose partnership and hospitality made this journey possible.

Together, we return home inspired and reminded that when business, culture, and purpose align, the potential for shared growth truly knows no borders.

Looking back at our UAE Trade Mission, we explored key industries for growth, including tech, healthcare, and clean energy. DC businesses are thriving here, but have you considered expanding globally? Here’s what you missed.

🚀 What We Explored:

- Technology: With the UAE leading the charge in smart cities, cybersecurity, and FinTech, there’s a wealth of opportunities for innovation and collaboration.
- Healthcare & Life Sciences: The demand for healthcare solutions is skyrocketing, offering DC healthcare providers and biotech firms a chance to make a significant impact.
- Clean Energy: As the UAE invests heavily in renewable energy, DC-based clean-tech companies can play a crucial role in this sustainable future.
- Trade & Logistics: Positioned as a global logistics hub, the UAE offers unparalleled opportunities in supply chain management and international trade.

Under the leadership of GWBCC Executive Director Aisha Bond, our mission connected us with influential institutions such as DMCC, Dubai Chambers, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Qatar. We even attended the Qatar Economic Forum, where global leaders gathered to discuss the future of the economy.

🌟 Why It Matters:
This mission underscores our commitment to driving economic growth and empowering Black-owned businesses in some of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The insights and connections gained are invaluable for anyone looking to expand their horizons.
