Did you know obesity is a serious, chronic disease linked to more than 200 health complications β€” including heart disease? πŸ’œ

ABC is proud to partner with EveryBODY Covered to highlight why comprehensive, evidence-based obesity care matters β€” not just for individuals, but for employers too. When workplaces cover obesity care, employees get better access to the treatment they need, and businesses see healthier, more productive teams.

Every Heart Counts, and that includes access to care that treats the whole person.

If your employer offers health benefits, this is a great resource to share with your HR or benefits team.

Dr. Powell-Wiley, a former ABC scholarship recipient, now leads groundbreaking NHLBI research on how neighborhood and social factors shape cardiovascular disease risk. Dr. Onwuanyi, ABC's own past president and the first-ever winner of our Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Competition, has spent decades building the pipeline for the next generation of cardiovascular specialists at Morehouse.

Join us in celebrating two leaders whose work has shaped this field β€” and this organization β€” at the 16th Annual Spirit of the Heart Awards Program & Fundraiser on October 3 in New York City. 🎟️ abcardioevents.org.

Did you catch this in last month's newsletter? If not, here's your congratulations moment for Dr. Ebubechukwu Ezeh! πŸŽ‰

Dr. Ezeh was named Fellow of the Year at the University of Kansas Cardiovascular Medicine department β€” voted on by his co-fellows, attendings, nurses, and staff. That's recognition from the whole team he trained alongside, and it says a lot about the kind of physician and colleague he is.

Dr. Ezeh, a two-time ABC Dr. Jay Brown Best Abstract Finalist (2023 & 2025), completed his general cardiology fellowship this summer and has since begun his clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Kansas City. In his words, the program has "embraced me like family."

One chapter closed, a new one already underway β€” congratulations, Dr. Ezeh! We're cheering you on. πŸ’™
