Today I am 74 years old. For my birthday this past week I received the notice that my apartment building where I have lived most, not all of my childhood, and most of my adulthood, is being offered for sale.
Living in D.C. my fellow tenants and I have the first right to buy.
But it is a lotta work.

The other thing that happened is that Bloombars is scheduled to be sold for taxes.

The city is being put to the test. Are we about people? Do we value art, community life, or just money?

Will John Chambers get help from the city, or be punished for all of his hard work and investment in us?
Will the hard working low wage workers who keep this city running, be able to live here in dignity...or pushed to homeless shelters and tent cities?

For 16 years, kids, Grammy-winning musicians and congressional staffers have unfurled at this little art space in Columbia Heights. But it’s for sale at a tax auction.
