We're waiving adoption fees on adult dogs & cats (6 months+) in our shelters now through June 21. And our generous friends Pohanka Honda are hosting us for an adoption event TOMORROW from 11am-2pm and they are covering adoption fees on ALL pets -- including puppies and kittens. There's never been a better weekend to meet your new best friend! 🐾❤️

🥵 With the extreme heat ☀️ in the forecast today, we are pausing our Shelter Skip Days today, Friday, June 12, out of caution for our dogs and people. Please check back when the temperatures come down this weekend to play hooky with us. Missing your Skip Day buddy? Consider fostering for a few days. Stop in and we will set you up for success!
In the meantime, take care with your own pets during this heatwave:
🐾 Limit outdoor activity to cooler times of the day, and keep potty walks brief
🐾 Provide access to shady areas, and keep pets indoors as much as possible
🐾 Keep fresh, cool water available for your pets to drink
🐾 Use caution on hot pavement, asphalt, and sand, using booties, cooling the pavement down with water, or staying on cooler grass
🐾 Never leave your pet in your car unattended without the A/C running

Meet Phoebe, the sweetest lady who has been patiently waiting for her furever home for almost a year! 🐾

She’s ready to show a lucky family just how wonderful she is. During her stay with us, Phoebe has enjoyed many "Shelter Skip Days" and proved she is the ultimate companion. Her Skip Day buddies report that she loves meeting people, is wonderfully curious on walks, and behaves like an angel.🚘💨

To top it all off, Phoebe has some secret tricks up her sleeve that she’ll gladly show off for a yummy treat. 🦴

Meet Brit, a hidden gem 💎

Brit has been patiently waiting for her furever family since Christmas, and honestly, we are all scratching our heads as to why she’s still here. She frequently goes out on Skip Day adventures, and always returns with nothing but glowing praise from her Skip Day buddies.

One recent Skip Day buddy couldn't say enough good things, noting that Brit was so sweet and perfect, and said she’ll make a great family dog because she’s the perfect mix of excited, fun, sweet, and calm.

Another volunteer agreed, calling her super sweet and highlighting how she never barked, is a dream in the car, and already knows “sit” and “shake.” Here at the shelter, she gets along with other dogs in playgroup and loves to play ball.
