Last Friday, the Baby and Me Program created space for rest, relaxation, and community for the incredible mothers we serve. 💛

Moms enjoyed a beautiful brunch and a meaningful conversation led by centered around what a true village looks like during motherhood. To make the day even more special, several moms received spa giveaways focused on self care and wellness.

Experiences like these remind our mothers that they are seen, supported, and valued. Thank you to our partners, donors, and supporters who continue to invest in programs that uplift women and strengthen families.

Friday’s Baby and Me session was powerful and full of meaningful conversations as we recognized Week of the Young Child and Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Sherron Murphy-Brown kicked things off by highlighting the importance of reading to and talking to your baby. Our moms didn’t just learn, they practiced in real time, building confidence in how they engage and connect with their little ones.

Christina Jones then led into a conversation about why it’s important to let children lead and how creating safe, supportive environments can help decrease the risk of abuse. These are not always easy topics, but they are necessary, and our moms showed up with openness and strength.

To wrap things up, Marcus Nolen from Healthy Foods brought some fun to the session with a delicious parfait demonstration, sharing an easy recipe from Shonelle Butler for our own “Tasty Tuesday” on a Friday.

Shout out to our incredible resource partners who showed up and poured into our families: Safe Shores for Children’s Advocacy, DC Public Library for reading essentials, and DC R**e Crisis Center for critical resources and support.

Grateful for spaces where learning, community, and care come together. 💙
