VFF USA Raising Awareness – Empowerment – Transformation Districts of Andhra Pradesh.

Vicente (1920-2009) and Anna Ferrer (1947) founded Rural Development Trust, better known as RDT, in 1969, establishing its headquarters in Anantapur, in the Rayalaseema Region of Andhra Pradesh as a non-governmental organization registered under the Indian Registration Act of 1908. Since then, RDT-Vicente Ferrer India has implemented comprehensive development programs for marginalized and underprivileged communities and people with disabilities.

On April 9, communities across the regions where VFF works came together as part of India For India.
India For India is a people’s initiative and a powerful example of transformation from within. It reflects the strength of collective action and community-led development, enabling people to become active participants in shaping their own futures.
This year, over 1,60,000 people across 2000+ villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana took part by opening more than 1,10,000 hundies filled through months of small, consistent savings.
What may seem modest at an individual level becomes something far more powerful when it comes together supporting education, health, and livelihoods.
What makes this initiative truly inspiring is its simplicity: change does not always come from outside. It can begin within communities themselves and grow through shared responsibility.

Each additional year of schooling can increase a girl’s future earnings by up to 20 percent. Educated girls are more likely to participate in the workforce, reinvest in their families, and strengthen community resilience.

Yet millions of girls worldwide still face barriers to completing secondary education. According to UNESCO, gender gaps widen as education progresses to higher levels.

Through our Access. Aspire. Advance. approach, Vicente Ferrer Foundation supports girls at every stage of learning so they do not just remain in school, but excel and move forward with purpose.

One month to go.

India Giving Day is March 13, 2026.

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate a love that empowers. Mark your calendar to invest in a girl’s future.

When a girl continues her education, she gains confidence, opportunity, and the power to shape her own path. Educated girls strengthen families, grow local economies, and advance both Quality Education and Gender Equality across generations.

Today, we celebrate the curiosity, intelligence, and potential of girls who will shape the future of science, medicine, and innovation.

Globally, women represent only 35% of STEM graduates and about one-third of researchers. Enhancing girls' participation in education, particularly in science, is crucial for creating a more robust and innovative society.

In rural India, ensuring that girls continue their education opens pathways to leadership, research, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.

When girls are educated:
✨ They contribute to India’s growing knowledge economy.
✨ They strengthen families and communities.
✨ They become scientists, doctors, innovators, and changemakers.

This India Giving Day, we are investing in girls’ education because empowering them today builds a stronger India tomorrow.

🪔 Happy Diwali from the Vicente Ferrer Foundation USA! 🪔

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is one of the most cherished celebrations in India, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. It marks the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom after overcoming adversity, and families come together to light oil lamps (diyas), share sweets, and celebrate unity and hope.

As we celebrate this special occasion, we are reminded of the light we can bring to others’ lives through our collective efforts. This Diwali, let’s continue to shine a light on the incredible work we do together to empower communities, uplift those in need, and build a brighter future for all.

Thank you to our supporters and partners for helping make this possible. Let’s keep the spirit of Diwali alive by spreading hope, love, and positivity!

Centuries-old artistry, intertwined with stories of resilience and transformation!

Through the Kalamkari Training Program, our local implementation partner has empowered over 400 women to break free from the cycle of poverty and embrace new livelihood opportunities. Kalamkari, a traditional Indian art form that uses natural dyes to create intricate hand-painted or block-printed designs, is not just a craft; it’s a gateway to economic independence and cultural preservation.

From daily wage laborers to skilled artisans, these women are redefining their futures, one vibrant fabric, one intricate pattern, and one generation at a time.

Their work has an impact beyond art. It’s a movement of empowerment, heritage, and hope.
