The One Love Co-Op Network {One Love=True Change, Inc.} is a grassroots movement of families, educators, artists, vendors & activists to spread love, unify, educate & inspire the community to live in solidarity with one another. To bring back the S
pirit of the Village and what is indigenous to us all: love. Motto: "As our Sense of Community Expands, our Sense of Self Expands." Events are held bi-monthly throughout the DMV, and are a result of a collaboration of different participating organizations and community members. Background: What started as a gathering of like minds at Mama's house launches into a larger movement to reclaim our Community. 2012, The One Love = True Change Movement was ignited in Washington DC, Los Angeles, & Oakland to unite the Village in common Understanding, Vision, and Action- by bringing Awareness to our History, Surroundings, and our Interconnected Responsibility to One other, our local Organic Talent & Ingenuity. Regular Event: Events are held seasonally in locations throughout the DMV. Each time, we pay homage to the elders and ancestors, take a moment for the healing arts, and deeply explore a different issue that divides us as a community through short film/forum. Meanwhile, local vendors leave samples of their works to help us strengthen and support our local economy; we cook a Pan-African/Indigenous dish together, buy local groceries from our partners at Harvest2Health, and we close with our celebrated talent show portion that serves to rebuild the lost tradition of our once positive musical culture. One Love is truly a movement to rebirth our light as a community and to reclaim it from the mass corporate takeover of our minds, bodies, hearts, and souls. Weekly Planning Meetings: To coordinate activists and artists in building a successful, regular, positive & conscious event for youth and families. Currently One Love welcomes families, activists, organizations and interested community members to join our network to spread the love. Together we strive to serve our community through the generations through the medium of education and the arts in order to unite us once again in common purpose. One Heart: One Love seeks to collaborate with anyone and everyone - from individual activist to organized groups - who is trying to ignite the Light within our community once again. A Legacy of Partnership: New Abolitionists Association, Ubiquity Inc. of Howard University, Soul 57, The Black Studies class of Deanwood Recreation Center (Thursdays 6:30-8 pm), Ra Brown's "Will Work for Food" & Naturals in Mt. Rainier (Wednesdays 8:30-10 pm), Yoga Instructors, Lyricists' Anonymous, & the list will continue to grow. One Love is literally True Change.
