IABA LA congratulates Judge Sarvenaz Bahar on her appointment to the by Gavin Newsom.

Judge Bahar brings a distinguished career in appellate law to the bench, having served as a certified appellate specialist and solo practitioner handling civil and criminal appeals and writs in state and federal courts. She is also a past President of and previously served as a Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner.

IABA LA is proud to recognize her appointment and its significance for Iranian American representation within the judiciary.

🌟 Meet Neeka Mirpour, the 2025 IABA LA Public Interest Scholarship recipient!

A first-year law student at UCLA, Neeka is pursuing specializations in Public Interest Law and Policy and Critical Race Studies. Her work spans from refugee advocacy with the International Refugee Assistance Project to research for the UN on the use of water as a weapon in conflict zones. Before law school, Neeka worked full-time supporting newly arrived Iranian and Afghan refugees.
