This full-day immersive workshop is designed to strengthen your suturing skills through practical application, expert guidance, and evidence-based instruction. Participants will review key perineal anatomy, tear classifications, and best practices for managing first- and second-degree lacerations and episiotomies, as pain management for these and other common midwifery procedures. The majority of the day is dedicated to hands-on skill stations using synthetic suturing pads. You will practice simple interrupted and continuous stitches, layered closure techniques, and aseptic practices in a supportive learning environment with real-time feedback from experienced facilitators. The workshop also includes a focused pharmacology component (.75 RxCE) covering local anesthetics (including dosing and safety considerations), topical antiseptics, pudendals, paracervicals, sterile water injections, and post-procedural pain management. By the end of the workshop, participants will demonstrate improved suturing technique, increased confidence in perineal repair, and the ability to apply evidence-based strategies in clinical practice. This workshop will not cover suturing of third- and fourth-degree lacerations; however, participants will review identification of these injuries through detailed anatomical discussion, including use of the OASIS (Obstetric A**l Sphincter Injury) acronym to support accurate recognition and appropriate referral.
