Economic and national security are at the center of nearly every presidential election. With both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions held recently, these issues once again came to forefront of the national discussion.
At the DNC and RNC respectively, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump addressed the educational and economic issues facing America. Clinton remarked that no one can prosper alone and that all students should receive an education that provides them with the opportunities to secure a well-paying job. She also argued that four year degrees should not be the only way to secure such jobs and that students should learn employable skills and trades. Trump touched on the need to add well-paying jobs to the American economy and increase fruitful cooperation with other nations. He also spoke of reforming the American education system to better fit current needs. Despite any differences between these two presidential candidates, the common message is clear: we need to increase cooperation with other nations to ensure shared prosperity and revamp our education system to better prepare students for the workforce.
Here at Bridging Nations Foundation, we believe that the key to prosperity is to work together. Our Prosperity Bridges program seeks to help foster stronger and more amicable economic ties between China, India, and the United States by promoting political dialogue, cultural exposure, and linguistic exchange, with the belief that the entire world will prosper in return. Additionally, BNF agrees with both candidates that more needs to be done to ensure students are adequately prepared to enter and succeed in the high-skills workforce. That’s why we offer the Education to Employment Bridges program that provides students with a personalized curriculum and the necessary skills to find employment.
