Paso Nuevo Paso Nuevo is a FREE after-school youth theatre program for ages 13-19 at GALA Hispanic Theatre.

Paso Nuevo is a place where Latino youth ages 11-19 have a safe and creative space in which to explore and take pride in their linguistic and cultural heritage, improve literacy and communication skills in both English and Spanish, discover their creative voice, gain valuable academic and job skills, and develop the tools necessary to engage more successfully in their schools and communities. e its founding in 1993, the program has engaged more than 1,000 young people in creative writing, performance, music and technical theater workshops.

Join us at Paso Nuevo as we begin auditions for the end of our spring session show! Performance to be on June 3rd!
Some roles require singing, while others are non singing. Seeking ensemble of movers/dancers as well!

Auditions are for speaking/singing roles only. Auditions will consist of reading sides from the English script and some improv.

Singing from the show will be acceptable for singing roles. a ca****la or music track allowed, we will have a Bluetooth speaker available.

Auditions are for REGISTERED Paso Nuevo students only!

This month of March participate in our Student Lottery!

How to participate?
Just attend the Paso Nuevo program! For each day you attend classes/rehearsals earn a ticket with your name on it which will get added to our lottery wheel.
At the end of March a drawing will be made and a grand prize will be awarded!

What are the prizes?
You’ll have to show up and find out! 😉

A proud D.C. native, he is an international musical ambassador, who has played percussion and woodwind instruments with local and global artists. These unique experiences have allowed him to organize and direct many cross-musical/cross-cultural exchanges with musicians from across the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond.

Gabriel Mata (pronounced: gah-bryehl mah-tah) is a Mexican American dance choreographer, educator, and performer based in Washington DC. He is the director of the Latinx Movement Festival in Washington DC. His dance performance work, motion memoirs, and teaching of contemporary sabor, focus on queerness, immigration, Latinidad / brownness, and community based movement forms. 
Dance Classes typically run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays between 4:30-6:30pm. (Schedule times may vary)
